this job i could not complete, had to palm it off to the manufacturer.
i always ask that the customer let us know what was found, they told us that the engineer fitted a new module. this cleared the fault.

The magnet and chambers were alway clear (good customer), also the magnet is oriented correctly.
anyhow after faffing around went for the mod and hey prest !

Be careful. Many of the Maytag/Electrolux Fridge freezers are blowing the evaporator fan motor, that in turn blows the pcb. Check devices first otherwise you risk blowing the new board.
P.S. Make sure Electrolux send the correct pcb. Advise them your program code (situated on the main identification label in the fridge)

Problem solved !
The regulators neutral on pin 4a had a break in it. Tested the old regs just to make sure and they are knackered, so it must of broke whilst swapping out the parts.

Siemens /Bosch are better than most.
mercurystar999, may i suggest you keep your nasty diplomat until it fails, then replace it.
Theres no point wasting your money, bosch/siemens will still be there when your diplomat has run its course.

Sorted.
The main wash motor was leaking to earth. Unfortunately at around £200 for a new wash motor, a bit pricey !
Found that the diagnostics wont always work. in my example the motor to earth, set program, press green flashing start button – nothing, completely ignored. Diagnostics wont even run. I found disconnecting the earth to the motor, all was well, diagnostics and a wash ! it even went through the total spin – with no error codes !
I tried disconnecting the wash motor and it did exactly the same thing, full spin and wash program with no error codes, even though the motor was NOT connected !
I had the exact same machine in the warehouse, so i borrowed some parts. I left the module in diagnostics before i disconnected. When i tried the the pcb and powered it up it showed e50 !! wtf !! the pcb had diagnosed the module was faulty. Absolutely brilliant. I only tried this to confirm no other faults !
I spoke to a zan-engineer friend, he mentioned that they have machines in the warehouse regularly because the engineers cant diagnose the faults properly, the diagnostics wont diagnose. The ones that end up in-house have to have parts swapped and changed until fixed.
What is the point in having complicated electronics with diagnostics, when you cant use the diagnostics when there is a fault ?
Ahh . . . this is one CRAZY planet we live on.
Anywayz hope this info is helful to someone out there – dont trust the diagnostics.

They produce different modules for the usual reason.
Harder to diagnose & harder to repair. The long and the short of it is they dont want them fixed, people seem to forget these are now disposable appliances.
The last thing the manufacturer wants is some non-genuine engineer fixing their products. This is all hidden under “Efficiency and Economy”, even the government subscribe to it.
So, as per the appliance i am working on, EWD1409I it now has three modules. Even the e`lux engineers are having problems with them. They are down to swapping and changing the parts until it works. LOL.

Hi,
Ditto, here. Electrolux appliances seem to have gone a bit downhill.
In the last year a have been fortunate enough to have had 26 modules to fit, thankfully they have been simple diagnosing. The usual start button green light flashing with no responce.
Unfortunately my luck has gone, i am now working on an EWD1409I, usual green light flashing. I was surprised to find 3 modules on this machine, the control panel, the brains down below and a dryer board.
My informant tells me the dryer boards are constantly going down and they can give the same fault of the green light. They wont even give an error code !!
I cannot get into diagnostics either, has it changed ?
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. have you noticed that more zanussi washer modules are only available unprogrammed.

Bosch motors have a nasty habit of failing when carbon brushes are fitted.
Place ohm meter on each carbon, is there a responce ? if so, check the inbuilt NTC (Built-in temperature safety). You can do this by metering the wires at the carbons and the connector on the motor.
Also try removing the carbons, lightly wiping the ends with wet n` dry paper, also the commutator (the round copper contacts inside the motor.
MAKE SURE you do this safetly, unplug and remove the motor.
If you get it working make sure you give the machine LIGHT duties for atleast a week, allowing 30 min between washes to allow the motor to cool down.
If none of the above works, call an engineer (see UKWhitegoods Repairs)
