Thanks Martin, looks like a job for EMD to eliminate the PCB.

    Re: hotpoint door boot wire

Hi, The “Have a read of this” link is dead, anyone point me to the correct page.
I have an Integrated Hotpoint BIW105w that needs the boot changing and it would be handy to see how this clip is fitted.
    Cheers

It’s not only Pikies that will nick your gear, try working in an Army Barracks.
A few years back I was called out to a Sergeants Mess to repair their NAAFI bought crap washing machine. Went to the Van to retrieve my Mega and on returning found my tool box had been rifled. (Pun intended)
Naturally know one knew anything about it and who was I to argue with 3 hairy arsed Scotsmen? Quick exit followed by a phone call to their Commanding Officer complaining about the honesty of his NCO’s and refusing to return unless my tools did likewise. Neither happened.
I’m not sure about the outcome as I have never been back but I expect they had to call an engineer out soon after as I’m not sure, maybe I imagined it, but I thought I saw a piece of silver paper lying across the module before I refitted the back panel.

Turned out to be a bit of each so unblocked the mains stop cock and turned down the filter. Think I got that right………. 😯
    Thanks again.

Thanks both, seems to be a problem with this range, much like the old Wirlpool machines.
I still think using it as a geranium planter is the best option.

Re: re bearings on an Indesit WD 12 S UK

Quick Tip…. Remove soap draw and belt then lay machine on its back with door open, preferably outside, fill with a good quality compost and plant 3 geraniums and a some trailing lobelia in the drum.
For added effect the filter housing will take a small Bergonia bulb and the soap box will look stunning with Bacopia trailing from it.
Dont forget to set machine on a rinse cycle every other day.
I have found during the winter that the machine covered with a polythene tent and the dryer switched to low temp, out of season tomatoes can be sucessfully grown. An Italian variety such as Merlonias Indish*tias seems to do well ………

    Not quite finished yet ……
In a roundabout way I guess they are right but they don’t know it ……
In June 1970 I was working as a service engineer for Hotpoint, then known as British Domestic Appliances (BDA)
I was sent up to the old English Electric factory at Hyton, Liverpool on a 3 week training course on the Hotpoint 1600.
This was an electronically controlled machine and I still have the interim service manual and a couple of spares.

    Quote from the manual:
    “Module
The module consists of a number of transistors, diodes, resistors and capacitors, which provide a highly sensitive means of speed control. In effect, the module may be regarded as a speed controller, since its function is to determine the amount of current the thyristor is allowed to conduct”

It had been out awhile before I played with it and it was a pig.
Hotpoint decided only to sell these machines through a few outlets and Keddies in Southend (part of my area) seemed to corner the market.
Me and one other were trained up on these things and did nothing else all day but change modules, PMC’s and wiring looms.
I was given one as a wedding present from the other engineers in April 1972 made up out of spares off their vans; it lasted all of 18 months.
Not sure when it was patented but to my knowledge is was one of the first.

Couple of pages from the manual

As a postscript the front concrete balance weight was known affectionately as the AWLB (Arnold Weinstock Life Belt)

Tx for getting back Mr Broom, I have managed to get hold of a pump and hose, all I need now is either the Tripod kit or at the very least the support tube seal.
    Model range 1450/60.
