Hi Michael – I’ve got two numbers listed. I guess the first in the old number the second one is the superseded one. Good luck. Bonza

Good god Ken, if you’d not mentioned it was coming from Turkey, I’d have thought you were talking about GB and Italy!!

    Re: Beko

I wonder if those of you out there that are doing work for GB have any comments to make about the Beko issue. Whilst GB have now got a reputation for paying on time, there has always been gripes about the ridiculous cost of spares. In effect every piece of refrigeration equipment, that needs a compressor change, on a Servis machine, causes said appliance to be scrapped. Now we,ve been repairing Beko’s for a while and whilst the quality isn’t great the saving grace has always been the cost of the spares (reasonable) This has allowed us to persuade the customer that she might like to share her money. Bingo – happy customer and happy service company. Just let us sit back and watch this be cocked-up. £30 a job and no markup on the cost of inflated part prices. I have to say that I have sympathy for the SF guys, rest assured many of us out here aren’t over the moon at inheriting your work, but maybe it will go away like the last scheme put forward by GB.

Re: Electrolux group automatic washer/washer dryer configura

Gentlemen – To those of you that I have offended I apologise. Specially to Alex who I class as a good friend. I did not intend at the start of this to cause a heated political debate, I was just miffed that I was unable to understand the information I was given and it seemed nobody was going to help me with the problem. To be honest re-reading the Hotpoint publication has not helped further. The problem I have, is how to configure a new board after replacing a defective one. I am talking about the 16 digit code that has to be entered on a Delta3/Neat machine.
We all agree that the wps should supply the training/information but the reality is that most don’t and we have to work round it, certainly the smaller companies struggle and this is where the UKW is a lifeline to us and binds us together.
To all of you out there irrespective of your stance – Thank you

Re: Electrolux group automatic washer/washer dryer configura

Thank you kind sir – that was the point I was trying to make at the start. We are a collective group of like minded souls trying to do a job of work for what could in the future be our customers (not the wps). The debate about who should give or not give out the information may be important to us, but it isn’t to Mrs Smith whos’ washer is not working. The post was placed because of a first time problem with this type of machine which obviously will lead to others in the group also needing help. An interesting further point is that the Electrolux group has benefitted from my purchase of the part but will not help me fit it.
Now Dave as moderator back to you – Can anyone help?

Re: Electrolux group automatic washer/washer dryer configura

An interesting point that one Alex. As I understand it then, outside of the warranty period service force companies feel they have a Right to continue with the captive market. Cost is not really the question here as neither you nor I had any control over the contracts. What we do see clearly however is something that must cause Ted to have sleepless nights – How do you get us all to work together not work against the common good.

    Re: Electrue/NESN

Sorry Ted – that was not a snipe at you – What I was saying was that a good idea, thought up by you, was being spoilt by others from outside of your area using strong arm tactics not persuasion.

    Re: Electrue/NESN

Here’s another hypo for you from a good source and friend – Certain B9 company is having difficulty putting together its new network and is under pressure to be up and running by end of November from its client. However, some of the service companies have had dealings with the the leader of the said B9 company and are abit reticent to join his flying circus. Once bitten etc. B9 company is now leaning on service providers with the threat that if they don’t join, their work will be given to someone else. No mention of let me come and persuade you we’re ‘good people to work with’ It would seem that leopards do not change their spots! It makes Network-DASA seem like a good bet to me and a great shame that something put together by Ted could turn nasty.

Ken if we can’t put up with a little downtime now and again its a bad lot. Its nice to see us back up and running and a big thank you from here. Re: Comet Service Centres

By coincidence, we had our first insurance job today for an item sold at Comet. This must be the first one through the door since they set up their own service network. Is this an indication that they can,t get the staff?

    Re: WEEE & Recycling

Continuing on from Ken’s comments. We tried to get involved with this recycling thing when the fridge recovery thing changed from refrigerant recovery to disposal of complete appliance. Just to collect appliances and take to disposal site needs a waste transfer licence, if you want to take them back to your location for refurbishment/recycling a further waste management licence is required. This does not take into account the fact that you would have to convince the Environment Agency that your site is suitable. I have yet to be convinced that the end result justifies the hasstle.

Interesting times – only a few short months ago we were starting to dig our heels in about payment rates and have generally seen an increase. Now we are seeing the WPs start to go sideways or under in some cases. What or where does the original problem lead back to I ask??
