ParticipantRe: Servis UK (Antonio Merloni) Bust!?
An interesting point there ‘ServisWEEE’ The article seems to indicate that WEEE will be collected as normal, but who in their right mind is going to collect it, as the distribution of remaining stock is being outsourced? Secondly, the recycling of WEEE was being carried out by Servis/AM personnel at Darlaston Road which is as I understand it likely to become a housing estate. Further if you are not selling appliances and I doubt that many retailers are buying, (certainly Empire stores, Littlewoods and Argos are not) you have no liablity to recycle. More smoke and mirrors perhaps.
Only verbal on GB DAR but from an ex-employee given cards on Friday

And now if they have issues with payments they throw their teddies out and refuse to pay.

ParticipantRe: Servis Service
Yes – payment rate at £32 a job is too low. 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of issued van stock is already obsolete, resupply of uses stock is poor. They still persist with the £16 payment if the appliance is exchanged. IT system does not lend itself to independents and initially getting paid is a nightmare. Otherwise everything is rosy 😀

ParticipantRe: What Is Actually Fair?
Or at a slightly sideways look, is it fair that many of these work providers are now creaming off what little we get, by taking the customers money over the phone by credit card and then expecting us to complete an out of guarantee repair for standard rate. Examples of which are CDA, ISDAL, Servis to name but three. Im sure there are more ??

ParticipantRe: Taurus Bust?
I hear that GB are not doing the service work on the product until certain payment issues are resolved and currently those machines that fail are being returned/collected by DAD. Abit worrying if you were banking on using the 3 year P&L cover.

ParticipantRe: hats off to the independants!!
And if you take into consideration the number of John Lewis stores around the country and the area that they cover and then take the much larger area and number of indies being compared we must be tops.

ParticipantRe: CDA CW494 Problem
Laura – You might like to contact CDA as their appliances are guaranteed for 5 years on parts, 1 year on labour.

ParticipantRe: Gorenje
Tim – We are Gorenje agents, but before we go any further I need to know which range you are looking at. All built in appliances are to have a 5 year parts and labour guarantee – the stand alone however have as standard a 2 year parts and labour guarantee, some in the range are covered by 5 year P&L. Regarding the durability, the cheap end are average machines at a reasonable price. (two years p&L) The middle to top end machines are good quality (with either 2/5 years dependent on model) Spares, whilst an issue earlier on, are generally easy to get hold of and regarding service we offer next day calls. The service network is all independent companies which works in your favour – ie We want your custom and work to keep it. So to help us out we need to know where you are located and which appliance model/range you are looking at. As my collegue GB states, if you are looking at a standalone washing machine the ISE is well worth a look.

ParticipantRe: Installing different a capillary thermostat?
John – If you want to do it right, get hold of an air stat from either Dean and Wood or HRP and fit it. You can set it up manually to the temperature that you want and off you go. If you want more info give me a pm and Ill talk you through the fitting. Cheers

ParticipantRe: is it worth repairing?
Yep I agree with Penguin – especially the Gorenje – you get two years parts and labour as standard and should be able to pick one up within your budget. If you try the Gorenje website or alternatively try Repairs@ in the sidebar and that may get you someone in your area who can help.

Once again here we go – like Alex, if I find that they are playing about, we will ditch them. I suspect that there will be plenty of refrigeration work around shortly !!
