Re: Hotpoint WD440G filter problems and general moan.

This is a customer abuse problem, the filter can only be blocking up that quickly because of what your putting in the appliance!. Do you have many hairy animals by the way?
Sorry but Hotpoint or Comet will draw the line somewhere and make a charge for this callout as this is not a know problem with this appliance.

unbelievable appliances, the washing machines bearings are litterally failing on the first use!, and then BER strait away. I thought hotpoint wma were bad, used to service them strait out of the shop!.
Treat yourself and spend a bit more on a Bosch.

oh sorry maybe ther is two size rear tubs, gets a bit confusing i normally just match them up in the workshop and knock them out, got loads of them now, carry a complete one on the van. actually only seen a couple of the ones with the thin cross piece but thought they had the same bearing assy.

    Re: Hotpoint 30mm Seal (Again!)

‘large bearing half tubs’? I thought all the tubs are the same just the bearings are different. I have replaced the small shaft bearings and cross piece with the large shaft bearings and cross piece with no trouble in the past, all in the same rear tub.

    Re: Hotpoint 30mm Seal (Again!)

whenever i have seen this thin shaft i have always replaced it and put the thick shaft cross piece and bearings on. Dont even think you can get that thin cross shaft cross piece any more (might be wrong). Its inexpensive I can get the thick shaft and bearings for about £15.
    Sorry no real help there

‘hasn’t been used for about 4 months, has spent 2 months outside under my carport’.
Its been outside!, just to clarify, you havnt really left your machine outside have you?, these machines hate dampness.

Re: HOTPOINT DRYER CTD40 / machine switches off ?

    hi muz1kman,
need more information really to diagnose what the fault is. With these condensor dryers water can collect in the back panel next to the rear cooling fan if the appliance is not draining, this can splash on the element causing a earth leak.
The noise you are hearing is probably the pump going. Take it you have checked the belt is on, could be a start capacitor problem?.
    Switch off before testing!

Re: Have I been taken for a ride here?

Obviously trying to pursuade a customer to take on a repair that is more than the cost of the appliance is wrong. But in my experience alot of customers say previous engineers are more interested in selling than repairing, sometimes I have found simple faults on machines when customers have been advised to replace with the engineers new appliance.
In my opinion only, an engineer is there to earn a living from repairs, making money from selling appliances quickly leads to another agenda – ‘the hard sell’ which customers hate!.
That said If the customer requests I do offer impartial advice on whats suitable for the customers needs.
Impartiality is quickly lost if you are making money from sales, (enough said on that as I dont want to agnoy you lot who are selling ISE appliances, and I dont want to be blacklisted from this forum).

Re: Ariston Margherita CDE 12 X EEPROM incompatibility?

Testing the element for correct resistance is not a proper test of the element. You are only testing for the correct continuity.
You should also check for earth leaks using a megger at 500V which will often not show up using a DVM. Either take time to familiaising yourself with a megger safely or call the manufactures as there is no point in replacing the module if its not the fault. (unplug before, no live testing!)

Also I personally have found the modules are often faulty and have never just changed the eeproms, this I believe is something normally only done by manufactures who can reprogram them on site.

(the modules on the washer dryers suffer from condensation damage from the dry unit above, when you get it working put the module in a plastic bag to prevent this happening) good luck

Re: How to replace Drum Paddle in an AEG LL1620 washing mach

Sorry I dont think this is the simple job described to you. When I worked at service force some of the AEG machines you had to drill through the top of the carboran tub to fit the screw to hold the paddle in place!. It was a really precise job, there is a kit which comes with measurements, drill bit size required and a rubber gasket seal to fit in the hole afterwards.
I would advise calling the manufactures on this one depending on your DIY skills.

Re: Have I been taken for a ride here?

In reply to your question, yes LE is ‘motor error’, however the first thing I would do is check the wiring on the motor harness. I recently done a bearing job and got a recall when the harness wasn’t fitted properly.oops.
    also the fault code reads:
~the connector in the lead wire assembly is not connected to the stator assembly (reconnect or repair connector)
~the hall sensor is defective (replace stator assembly)

personally i think you should check all wiring on the module before going for a majour repair, cant believe your engineer didnt even look at that.
beware any engineer who tries to sell you anything! they should be only thinking of repair!
