The most likely cause is either the float in the left-hand side chamber sticking or more likely the wiring harness has broken in the door…

Really no need to IMO..the area i cover has water as hard as nails which presents no problem at all as long as you always refill the salt reservoir as soon as required. The softener unit is an ion exchange type which will soften the water to the highest standard.

Do use the best quality salt (Finish) and detergent, be pretty thorough about scraping food deposits from the crockery before putting it in the dishwasher (if particularly greasy run for a second or two under a hot tap first) and you should get a sparkling result. Do that and maybe run a descaler/degreaser once a year for peace of mind…

What are the numbers on the new belt?…and can you still read the numbers on the old belt?

The Askoll pumps are pretty universal…there are different configurations of the connections but they all have two…and in and an out (which are interchangeable being connected to AC) so any Askoll pump will replace any other.

If you have measured a good circuit through it then check for free play of the impellor, this should rotate freely with a little ‘spring’ as you rotate it but there should be no significant side play to the impellor at all…if there is then it’s goosed 😉

The hall sensor provides speed feedback and can be obtained without the stator…sometimes loose/damaged connections to it can be a problem apparently although i’ve never come across that …replacement seems the best option, and yes it is available on it’s own 😉

Could the pumping and filling problems be caused by an airlock from taking out the circulation pump or when the machine was put on its side?

    Thanks

Absolutely not, if the inlet solenoid has 240v to it (please don’t live test, it is dangerous and never necessary) but isn’t letting water in then it is faulty…

If the thermal protection on the wash pump has failed then that’s most likely because the pump is about to et go…do a search on here for ‘whirlpool AND askoll’…you’ll find a wealth of information on how they fail and why the conversion kit is the best remedy 😉

Plug out at all times when testing :zap:

If you get the side panel off it should be obvious, usually they overflow out of a small aperture above the pressure line for the valve lock…

Hi Geoff, sounds like the hose from the bottom of the matrix to the sump is partially blocked causing an overflow at the float/rocker. A sure way to tell if it’s getting blocked is to listen to the water when it drops out of the matrix (3 fills), you should hear it flowing like a small waterfall. If it goes very quiet then it’s on the point of overflowing.

You might also want to check the free operation of the float and that there isn’t any real amount of corrosion on the microswitch arm 😉
