    Re: Siemens D/W SF24261GB/08,

I have had just the one with a Neff badge that had a dodgy dispenser that took the pcb with it 😉

    Yep that sounds favourite

The brushes are only available without the brush holders, and the genuine ones are usually slightly superior although we have fitted plenty of pattern ones without problems.

One point to note, when the motor is assembled in the factory there is a tang bent in to hold the brush for the armature to be inserted. I have found the pattern brushes are often a tad longer than the originals and don’t slide completely past the tang when you push them in (usually only one side and always the one by the suspension leg! 😕 )

If you haven’t done this before i’d thoroughly recommend removing the motor to do it or it can be a nightmare of a fiddle…when you slide the new brushes in check that they are free to slide easily all the way in. If one or both meet resistance and ‘grab’ then you need to look down the inside of the holder, locate the tang and carefully ease it back (bend it lol) with a screwdriver 😉

Re: Mysterious symbols on Ocean freezers

The lights on these are in fact LED’s, the green one is simply an indication that the machine has mains power to it (if the mains supply failed then the red alarm light couldn’t light up!) but these give up the ghost at a very early age so if no lights are showing on the N setting then it’s probably perfectly ok.

As said before the S (superfreeze) setting simply bypasses the stat so if it begins to actually defrost at this setting then the stat is at fault, they are a standard freezer stat on these models and any good refrigeration engineer will either carry one on the van or can get one very easily.

Expect to pay up to about £75 for the complete repair…job sorted! 😆

You can get one-man golf buggies like THIS that use 12v or 24v power and are designed to carry a person and a bag of clubs up hill and down dale for several miles…maybe worth enquiring about the motors used? :con:

IIRC any of the really old H0tpoint (Bosch built) machines have the same cap…maybe Jim can help?

I enjoy a wiskey from time to time (always with a drop of cold water 😀 ) ….what would you recommend Ken as a really nice single malt without breaking the bank?

    Re: Swine Flu

I had ‘flu about 6 weeks ago, i’m hoping it was the swine variety although it was early days for the epidemic. Having now had it i can safely say i’ve never had ‘flu before…went to bed with a slightly sore throat and woke up next morning feeling like a steam roller had run over me, every joint in my body aching right down to fingers and toes. I spent the next two weeks enjoying temperatures as high as 108 😕

    Re: Bosch SGS42 not starting

In all that i’ve seen i’ve had two stick, both of those were because the machine had been stored without use for several months and after they’d been manually operated were fine.

If the water is rising up into the small chamber under the diaphragm but the diaphragm doesn’t operate the lever then there must be an airleak. You can check this by physically blowing into the small chamber 😉

Remember, power off at all times :zap:

    Re: Bosch SGS42 not starting

You say the pressure chamber was well gunked up, i suspect you haven’t got rid of it all particularly in the small chamber underneath the diaphragm switch or under the black baffle within the chamber.

Failing that, check that the diaphragm switch operates when the machine fills…the pcb detects this then times a top-up 😉

The model number is laser etched onto the top edge of the door and is sometimes only readable in the right light.

It’s not unknown for the element to fail and take the pcb with it, check the continuity and earth leakage of the element first then the opration of the pcb as Penguin has described 😉

Or is the element integral to the ceramic top/hob?
