What are the exact symptoms?
You set it off to wash and then tell us the sequence of events?

Not really, you’ve done all the sensible stuff.
There is obviously a leak or overfill situation which will need investigation, and you’ve correctly narrowed it down to being the appliance itself 😉
You could probably assist the engineer before he comes by gently tipping the appliance back (with the power off) at 45o…towels down to mop the resulting water spillage on the floor, then at least it may dry out sufficiently for him to be able to run it to find the fault more easily.

On occasions where there has not been a suitable place for a sticker, I sometimes offer one to the customer to stick it where they want to. They normally hurriedly stick it on wonky and right on the front in a most unprofessional manner. We always put a sticker on a new machine just like a car dealer but it always gets applied in a position that can’t be seen when doors are shut.
I always offer the sticker first on repair jobs….you find out who the organised customers are because they usually take and stick it in their telephone diary right underneath where they’ve already handwritten our name and telephone number 😆 but very very rarely is the sticker refused.

One swift blow with a hammer on the spanner (always use a ring spanner) does it for me and I, ahem, haven’t managed to break a single pulley 😆

That’s my point…we have an engineering staff of two, but consider ourselves to be more like sole traders 😉

Sounds very much like the pcb has let go then, they are around the £100 mark but some can be repaired for significantly less depending on the nature of the fault.
I would recommend that the rest of the appliance is tested for earth leakages though as it’s entirely possible that an earth fault has damaged the pcb. At only 5 years old it’d be worth repairing IMO, especially when you compare it to the cost of replacing an integrated unit 😉clivejameson

If it is actually draining ok then it’s time to check the pressure switch and associated tubing. You might want to search the forums for an E2 error also 😉

Firstly Frank oops Ken 😆 , I would prefer to see three categories namely sole trader, up to 10 employees and over 10 employees. This only comes from a personal perspective as my business is a partnership which also employs a part-time book keeper, we both do admin and engineering so we really feel we belong to the sole trader camp and not with the ‘big boys’, but if we used your two category idea we would be lumped in with them. Besides i don’t see having three categories as creating an admin headache, and it might give a little more flexibility over membership rates?
I would definitely want the vote to be open to all traders, after all this is the birth of something new that is intended for all traders. I feel very strongly about that.
As to the chairperson…well I assume we are talking about a steering committee and not an executive council in which case i think i’d be happy to see that nomination coming from the committee itself, after all they have to work with that person, and i feel any combination of the names proposed would give a good mix of representation?
well….there’s my three penneth 😀

To my mind, and knock me down if i’m out of line here, a TA should be something akin to a union for the self-employed and their employees and such should commit to slightly more direct assistance for individual members…so perhaps 4.c could be worded to include legal advice for individual members if required in the course of running their business?
I’m quite clear about the use of the word ‘advice’ rather than ‘representation’ (although i think ultimately that representation would be desirable) in case this became a charter for an open ended cheque writing exercise at a time when initial funding will be crucial.
