ParticipantRe: Zanussi E40 fault
Hi paul
Got back to that zanussi today and did find a blown triac where you suggested.
Have sent board away for repair/test (£10} so i think it’s going to work ok.
Cheers mate for your sound advice.

Hi
Thank you for your input i will bear this in mind for future .
I know the hotpoint lads do not do any of the above with the plug and they change the motor and machine does then work ok .
i wonder how that is ?
Perhaps the new motor has thicker terminals in the plug socket .
I have squeezed the connections and found it to be a sound repair .
But i will think about what you have said for next one.colly
ParticipantRe: SIMPLE PCB REPAIR TIPS
Hi
I have come across the flashing lights fault on hotpoint’s twice in the last couple of months.
Luckily last time i had the correct used module to fit .
However on this occasion i had read your post on here, i changed the capacitor on the board , and was happy to find it worked.
Thanks for your post !

Excellent advice from forum member Lasty.
In most cases the largest of the three adjacent capacitors on the main board rated 680u – 10v …. has failed.
The top of the capacitor appears domed.
Replacement costs all of 17 pence.
