Just a tenner?? I would of got the neighbours little s£$t of a son back to make the machine and all the supplys to it more accessible.

They won’t have him anywhere the house, I told them to forward a copy of the bill to him to see if it pricks his conscience. Somehow I doubt it though :rolls: .

    Re: Sorry but I can’t do it……..

Martin, just to back your original post I have had over the last two weeks FOUR calls to a Diplo/ Whirlpool dishwasher that the plumber from hell fitted.
Called out for a leak, tried and tried but couldn’t get the dishwasher out. Time was getting on so went back next day.
Found that the leak wasn’t the dishwasher but coming from behind the machine and I still couldn’t get the thing out. It ended up suspended inside the carcass with all the legs about 2cm from the floor. The discovery after an hour and a lot of prizing with a big screwdriver that the left hand unit had a screw going through into the side panel. The plumber/fitter had then fitted the top brace to the carcass covering the screwhead. It took another 15 minutes to hacksaw in the gap to get through the screw. Got the machine out, drain hose was now too short to pull the machine out. Had to cut it because he’d fed it behind the units, to the far wall, put a joint in and added another hose, doubled it back along the unit to enter the sink spigot….next to the dishwasher 😈 He’d extended the hose to about nine feet :rolls: .
The actual fault was the fill hose leaking because he’d left the tap head loose on a push fit joint, it was vibrating against the rear of the machine. Cabinet side needed a good dry out so we rebooked again.
New drain hose fitted, but noticed a lethal cut away at the top of the rHS casing which the badly positioned centre mixer tap fitted into. This proved to be an arse to get right as he’d obviously put the dishwasher in then lifted the legs for the tap fitting to slot into. 😈 😈
I’ve now got to go back again when a plumber has been, who is rejigging the tap which is loose at the push joint and hitting the back of the machine as it goes back in …..that was what caused the original fault. Obviously the kitchen unit will have to be moved as everything is well hiddenbehind it.
As I’m explaining all this to the customer he made a gesture with his hand , and ended up cutting his thumb badly on the exposed side panel.
I then tried to get the machine back in, concentration well, shot and pushed a leg through the bloody lino :eeek:

And the fitter………..next door neighbours son.

    Rant over šŸ˜‰

Going away next week to rest up and start on it again when I get back šŸ™ .

Had a couple recently, one was starting to fill as it spun and the other intermittently just didn’t spin at all. Both module faults

    Ha šŸ˜€
You’ve reminded me of an open air gig me and a mate did sound and light for years ago. Big old bandstand (now gone) on a town centre park (Helo will know the one šŸ˜‰ ). One single 13A socket for everything so we ran the lights from a genny. Every ten minutes the lights went out so all the other bands and crew drove their cars/ vans round to the front of the stage. Everyone sat on their bonnets seeing who could react fastest when it went dark. Formation Starsky and Hutch and the oddest lightshow ever šŸ˜† .
Ah, those were the days (er…and still are luckily šŸ˜‰ )

For my two penny worth. the WTA has done more for me and this industry in the past couple of years than DASA has done in its entire existence, so I know where my subs will be going!

And it doesn’t get said very often so I am going to say it now. A big thank you to all the guys and gals looking after and administering the WTA for everything you do.

    Re: Pat testing (a query)

Did a gig last year where they insisted on seeing public liability, then two days before asked for pat test certificate. We got to the venue and they had two single sockets in the stage area. One was held on the wall by gaffer tape and the other had an extension that could be termed lethal.
The venue promoter seemed a bit peeved when I asked him to unplug his games machines while we soundchecked and that if not we needed to see his public liability insurance.

Machines switched off all night, punters not chuffed at all. Went back a few weeks later with another band to find two brand new double safety sockets installed.

    Result šŸ™‚

The extension cables need a careful look as they get a hard life. Obviously you have to check correct wiring of them as well as earth continuity.

Oi, they’re borrowing those things off me so thy’ll be in pristeeeen condition šŸ˜‰

    Where’s me gaffer tape.
