ParticipantRe: Anybody wanna buy a washing machine factory?
Feel sorry for anyone that worked there though. Their old production line sold to the highest bidder on a upmarket Ebay 😥
Hopefully if someone does take up the opportunity there’ll be jobs for them.TC

ParticipantRe: AEG FAV 40260IW motor kit
Cheers Chris
It makes sense now. There are no connectors in the kit but thats not a problem. All I’ve got to do now is try and follow the badly photocopied instructions for everything else 😉

Looks like the L/N into the machine goes through the motor plug on the old motor but not on the new one on TDS. Puzzled I is.

Thanks Martin, still none the wiser with his numbers though.
Seems to have been made in ’53 on the 13th month then 😕

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
I love the type that asks loads of questions as they book the call and you just KNOW they will ring back and cancel later. Don’t care if its two days in advance, it still leaves scribble all over one of my call slots 👿 .
Customer in question from yesterday.
Cust ‘Do you have a call out charge?’
Me ‘Would you like one…? explain min. charges if they decline repair.
‘Do you fix Hotpoint dishwashers?’
‘ Model number?….’ Ignored.
It was blocked up (won’t drain :rolls: ) so we put drain cleaner down it 😯 and used a plunger over the sump to try and clear it 😯 😯 ‘
‘So its still not draining ?(after reccomending they dont put corrosive chemicals down their dishwasher hoses).
‘Have you got the model number??’
‘ Yep I have it written down on here……(2 minutes later) HJA……’
FFS’ It’s not a Hotpoint its a Diplomat/ howdens own integrated’.
‘ Well my husband said its a Hotpoint’
After we’d gone through all the possibilities of what it could be she booked a call for Monday AM, me knowing full well that she’d ring back to cancel.
2 hrs later I was proved right, her partner had booked a call with somebedy else for this morning :rolls:TC

ParticipantRe: Ignis ADL349/A/1 circ motor
Went back today (after getting two smashed ones from Conn) with the cheaper one as it was worth a punt. Difference…..the base bracket is at around 30 degrees to centre. Swap the bracket (rubber studs) fitted in no time and a free set of thin hose clips with it too 😉
Bargain.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint EW84X no grill
Wouldn’t have thought it, checked the blocks and it seems ok. The element works fine when the top oven setting is used but nothing at all when grilling.

I made a test rig using an old hotpoint module, put it all in a project box with switches to set the speeds, it works a treat
Even when landing?? 😆

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Yep….why is it so fr***In difficult to find a model number even when you tell them where to look.
Had a customer of mine texting me about his mums model number last week. He texted ‘its a Hoover 300 quattro’
I text back ‘It may be a AS130 have a look on the facia’
Him (gettin’ stroppy) The 300 is the model number as per previous text’
Guess what model number it was when I got there. 😉TC

Have this very same fault. On inspection what I think is a rectifier diode (electronics boffin…moi 🙁 ) at position DR101 has gone t**ts up. The markings on it appear to be 4007 5360. Am I right in thinking its an IN4007, but what is the other number and does it matter. Would like to give it a try out as it looks like a write off otherwise (eyebrows shut up on mentioning £50 :rolls: )

ParticipantRe: Call Forwarding
I’m interested in the system but found them about 70 quid cheaper just googling the model. From the spec they sound the same.

Went out to an ‘intermittent’ fault on a Hotpoint WF yesterday. Mini load light comes on at the end of the wash.
Tested perfect
‘How often has it happened’ me.
‘Twice now’ customer.
‘Last two washes?’ me.
‘Yesterday and last June (2009)’ :rolls: customer.

ParticipantRe: APM8703 Module
Wonder if not giving any guarantee with them makes them cheaper for us? Noticed a few boards recently much cheaper than expected.
