    Re: Smeg FC40RX fridge/freezer

It’s more likely that it is the other way round Carl.

The fridge compressor would normally have a tray on top of it to collect the defrost water.

Neither compressor should run hot, the one that is warm is working correcty, the hot one is not and there is a problem either with the compressor itself or some other system failure.

I would suggest you call an engineer to check for you, you could try here in repairs@ and the directories for one.

Change them both I would Simon.

    PCB 41007946
    Thermistor 49003477

There’s a tech bulletin on both of those part numbers as well which I think comes with the PCB.

Possibly, if it does please come back and check here as you’ll need an engineer to rectify the underlying cause.

I didn’t, I said it’s more likely to be the waste hose problem, which won’t effect the function of the appliance at all, only fill it with water when not in use. Although if it is clean, then it is likely to be the valve. Wait and see what the engineer discovers on Friday.

Easy way to find out is turn the taps off that supply it and see what happens (I would suggest this anyway, just in case).

As far as compensation etc goes, I can’t advise on this I’m afraid, that is best discussed with MFI and the installers.

Evren, please take my initial advice 😉

Lubricating the bearings even if you could access them wouldn’t make any difference at all.

Re: Faulty 8702 flooded our downstairs flat

May I ask who installed the appliance ?

The reason I ask is that it may well be that the drain hose is not positioned correctly and if it’s connected to the sink trap then it may well back drain in to the machine from the sink.

If that is the case then it’s the installers that are at fault and not the manufacturer. It’s highly unlikely (but possible) that a new inlet valve would be letting water pass.

Those are really the only two possibilities.

    Re: Grill pans/handles

The lowest price I can find on grill pans complete is £6.50 from Kitchen Economy their handles are the cheapest as well.

Obviously that’s in singles but it may be worth a call, details:

    Re: Zanussi WDJ1285 drum bearing

It varies a bit Alexis but you would look at paying between £100 and £150 as a guide depending on whether the drum shaft was damaged or not.

Parts can be obtained via the shop@

    Bearing kit is here:

    And the tub seal here:

If you need the drum shaft/spider come back to me 😉

Re: Candy Alise 105 Drum Bearing Maintenance…

You can’t lubricate the bearings without removing the whole drum I’m afraid.

If they are getting noisy, the only solution is to replace them, and on these models it is very time comsuming and (in my opinion) not an economically viable job to do.

The actual parts wouldn’t be expensive, around £20 for the bearing kit but the labour involved makes it a costly job.

If you phone MFI Extracare on 08457 959722 they should be able to supply you with the user manual.
