But, ask yourself why they/we are skint 😉
We as an industry are massively undervalued, we don’t charge/get paid enough – period.
We may well slag Corgi off but they have made many central heating installers wealthy by overseeing legislation, the fact that they have on the whole ignored the whitegoods industry is something of a mystery given the vast quantities of gas cooking appliances in the market place.
So, self regulation is better than an overseeing (government appointed) body surely, at least that way we can raise the stakes from within and pave our own destiny as it were 😀

blythy wrote:Any one out there got any experience of a bearing change on these
Yep plenty, but for legal and safety reasons we can’t give step by step instructions I’m afraid. Pretty straightforward compared to some, all done from the back/top with the power off of course :zap:
The bearing kit for it is here:

If you need pro help the repairs@ link below should provide someone for you 🙂

I doubt it’s the relay on the PCB to be honest, that is probably the heater one which will show signs of “arcing” after a few years.
Smoke/smell is much worse normally, probably one of the pump/motors or a capacitor.
Power off if checking further :zap: or better still I would ask an engineer to take a look, as you say it’s a nice piece of equipment and is worth repairing if possible 😀

Check the flow meter in the left hand side labyrinth chamber HotDog, quite a common complaint 🙂

Thanks for letting me know, it’s appreciated
The “other” elements have been returned due to pony and trap manufacture 😉

_Dilz_ wrote:I actually got the model wrong. It is a Brandt CFA361XU. Would that make a differnece to the diagnosis?
Nope, very much the same type of unit with a different PCB but roughly the same price 🙂
_Dilz_ wrote:What do you need to test the PCB and where can it be found?
If you need to ask that then it’s engineer time in all honesty, I’m afraid we can’t go into specifics for legal and safety reasons 😉

ParticipantRe: Smeg DEI710e1 Problem
You could try resetting it (type “smeg and reset” in to the search without the quotes to find how) and see what happens.
If that doesn’t cure it, it’s engineer time to be honest as other component failures can cause havoc with the software on these, the repairs@ link below should provide a contact 🙂

ParticipantRe: Brandt COA380AU on but not working
_Dilz_ wrote:Has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem might be?
It sounds like the PCB I’m afraid, either that or the compressor has failed but the former is more likely 🙁
The PCB is roughly £50-£60 so I’d ask an engineer to check to be certain unless you have the means to test it (with the power off). The repairs@ link below should provide one 🙂
