Dave
Must be the live cable I mentioned touching the machine casing 🙁

ParticipantBeen taking a look at components. Just spotted a rubbed through wire on the heater element which had rubbed against the machine frame work (Might have shorted out) but wasn’t snapped.
It looks like its the NTC cable. If I replace the complete heater element is there any other components or fuses etc that might have been affected.I’m hoping this is the problem.
Need this unit running ASAP 🙂
Can’t seem to upload images as they are to large for this site.

What are the numbers on the sticker behind the door? These will tell us the exact version of the machine.
Here you go

Would have happens at the end of the last spin most likely
How soon after starting do you
Get the water message? when the board blows it normally comes up very quickly, way before the machine would have filled if it was working as normal.
With waterI have just timed it.
I selected the fastwash programme. It run for 6 mins before the water message was displayed. (At no point during that 6 mins did the door lock or the machine start to work, just the timer counting down)
My girlfriend has just informed me that the last cycle did end a little strange with the door not opening immediately. Had to power it off/on to open it.

Before attemting any repair yourself, unplug the machine and remove plug from socket..This video should help..

No delay timer set.
When switching the machine on, everything lights up as it should but the start/pause button is flashing as though a programme is still running but it’s been paused.
If I press the start/pause button the light stops flashing and the timer starts counting down but the machine does nothing.

How would I check that

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Ultima 8KG WMD942
Can’t hear a humming noise.
Would this valve stop the complete machine working, even the spin cycle 🙂

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Ultima 8KG WMD942
Is there any way to test this or bypass it to see if it clears the problem

so the elements gone… or theres something (like a bra wire) touching the element!remove rear banjo shaped panel and have a good look
plug out of course
Update:-
I have checked for foreign objects touching the element, none were present.
What I have noticed is that the clothes are drying quicker now on low heat than when we used Hi heat. (Before the problem)
Hi Heat just trips the breaker as it seems to get to hot. (I have a Safety breaker fitted to the end of the plug)
Low heat is also a lot hotter than before
So the question is
Is it a faulty element or is there a heat controlling unit inside somewhere.

DaveAny thoughts

Would this cause my machine to blow a plug fuseNo.
Causes – water getting into fan chamber and being thrown into the elements is a good one. Exploding motor start/run capacitor is also common.
Penguin45.
It only blows a fuse when being used on the Hi Heat setting
Low heat is fine
