    Re: Buying Retro Fridge

    Hi Richard

Trouble is that sector of the market is so small that there just isn`t the choice of product out there I`m afraid. We stock the Gorenje`s and to date the only problems we have had has been internal cosmetic parts replacements required. That said some of the machines are Smeg sourced so there shouldn`t be a great deal of difference.

Where Smeg do score is the greater choice of colour and designs. At the end of the day it`s the look which sells these, It then becomes a centre piece and talking point in the kitchen as opposed to a good old bog standard fridge freezer sat purring away doing what it does best.

Gorenje does score higher with their 5 year parts and labour warranty and local sourced service. You pays your money……………

Other than that, further suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks

    Hi

Do you really need to go for the WAS model which has an 8kg load or would the 7kg WAE model suffice? Only reason I`m asking is apart from the bigger load capacity do you really need all the extra bells and whistles? if the answer is no then go for the WAE. Good all round machines which come with the standard two year warranty, now our best selling brand by a mile.

ISE appliances are a totally new concept filling a niche sector in the market with high quality products, long guarantees, no markup on spares which is virtually unheard of nowadays and locally sourced service should the need arise. If you can go the extra get the ISE10 with a ten year domestic guarantee you can`t go wrong.

    Hi Paul

In that case then coming in just over budget is the Beko TZDA629FW, not bad bits of kit in the price range.

😳 that`s what happens when you have a holiday 😆 , they did have some on special at DAD but they have since been cleared ,now as you say £379 odd retail :rolls:

In that case then the Indesit UFAN400 which is just under the 300 mark 😉 is about all I can come up with in a large freezer.

    Hi Paul

Probably the best around that budget is the Gorenje F6311 has a two year warranty and the service will be through a local agent should anything go wrong. These apart he would need to up the budget considerably to something like a Bosch or a Liebherr.

    Hi Buttons

I was going by previous experience of Baumatic lifespans :rolls: .

Yes I did see the reviews and yes I agree with whay you are saying. However no-one knows how long the reviewers have had the appliances so I guess time will tell on that one.

I wish you well with your purchase and hope it gives you good service.

    Hi rocker

IIRC the Miele cleaners all take 35mm tool ends. You could try Connect distribution or Qualtex if you deal with them. Alternatively you could try spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk or even Google.

    Hi

If it were me I would probably extend the warranty on a built in product of that calibre as they are not one of the best 😉 .

Just make sure whoever installs it gives it adequate ventilation.

    Hi Buttons

Just make sure you follow the installation instructions on adequate ventilation as a duff install can lead to all sorts of problems later.

Neff is always a good place to start for a quality appliance without breaking the bank.

He certainly doesn`t hold back that`s for sure and he certainly calls a spade a spade.

However with the obvious knowledge and enthusiasm he has, yes I think he would be a great asset. Like the rest of you I think a little diplomacy would go a long way 😉 .

A pity that we only seem to have Ian Bell to turn to. :rolls:

How about putting Owais Shah or even Robert Key in the melting pot? after all Bell hasn`t performed in ten tests against the old enemy only averaging 25 odd, which for a top five bat is pretty poor really.
