ModeratorRe: Which Bosch model is better?
The WAE2416S is the genuine article from Bosch. The 2416SG is an exclusive model made for companies like Currys who will have it made for them by down specifying the genuine model.

Good price and according to Kelkoo it`s in stock at Appliance World. Usual high quality you get from the German manufacturers. Only downside is by ordering from the net there is no installation service. A good independant retailer however can save you lots of hassle and take care of everything for you.

ModeratorRe: Balay ovens
Try Bosch service on 08705 678910 as they look after the service for Balay in the UK. Give them the ENR and FD number from the inside of the oven door. They may be able to help.

Trouble is Fairdeal, the appliance that marge is looking at is a built in column larder fridge which reduces the choice as not many manufacturers produce these. As soon as the term “built in” is applied to appliances the price rockets too, so £400 odd for one of these types is not uncommon. I was trying to give marge another option which she may have not known about.
As far as any actual repairs to compressors etc are concerned I am in the hands of the engineers on this forum as I am not an engineer myself.

ModeratorRe: New American F/F advice please
The Samsung, LG and the Daewoo all come into that price range. For the price I would probably go for the Samsung. Another option wouldn be to up the budget a bit and go for the Admiral GC2224GEKW.

The Whirlpool is a good choice without a doubt. Only other one to take a look at before making a final decision would be the Hotpoint HL232i

You could try asking the retailer if you could exchange for the next model up in the range KGN34V00 and pay any difference.
It does look like Bosch are experiencing some problems with this model. New orders placed are now coming up with not available until the end of February 😯 .

I’ve no idea of the thickness of the current lid though.
It’s probably somewhere between 20 and 25mm at a guess.
Good guess boro not far out at all. Measured one I have here and it`s 30mm deep.
The reduced height worktop lid is only about 2mm thick, accessory part number WZ2420. If you want to order one click on the spares shop link on the home page.
