ModeratorRe: Eco labels
Hi Mark
While the manufacturers are responsible for the “front label” I have often asked them “hey what about the base ?”. Nope not us, try elsewhere.
I must admit though Lec and Hotpoint among others are now supplying them complete 😀 which is much better. However you could try phoning
01302 325306 which is for Whirlpool badged “backs” but can be modified for others 😉 hope this helps.Regards

ModeratorRe: New Appliance Sales
We use D.A.D. at Gloucester for the majority of our stock. They do keep a core range of stock available for immediate delivery and a range of special offers each month. They are also able to “special order” from virtually any of the major suppliers at very competitive prices, who can deliver anywhere on UK mainland. Very rarely do we have any damage on deliveries and I cannot recall the last time we had a shortage either. All staff have their own e addresses so contact is easy as well. An all round good supplier.
We source Whirlpool products from Harris and Russell who are also able to deliver anywhere on UK mainland. They are also good at some of the “brown goods” as well.
Merloni group have available an online ordering service which we use for Hotpoint, Cannon and Indesit . I understand Creda are to follow soon on the same site. They also deliver anywhere in the UK.
Just a few ideas to think about

Great suggestion Del 😀 and thanks Ken for agreeing to it 😀 .
I hope this forum gets lots of use so we can all benefit in some small way,
whether it be special offers, exchanging details of suppliers or marketing ideas which have worked in other parts of the country or just good old banter. long may it continue.Regards

We sure did, our son was watching with us who is a quickie himself and he
made a good point the Windies batsmen do seem to follow the ball a lot and get caught more, but hey wer`e not complaining are we 😀 .I wonder if Sir Viv will bring any fresh blood to try and change their fortune ?
As for the series whitewash odds on favourites I would think. From our point of view I hope we keep an unchanged side and keep a winning team together. England 4 Windies 0 has a nice ring to it don`t you think 😉
P thanks for pm reply is in your`e inbox 😀 .

Hi Penguin
I think you may be right about either way. I think Michael Vaughan would be happy to take a draw after two days and tie up the series. Yep congrats to Graham Thorpe after all his woes he has come back stronger character. Mind you it was also nice to see a wag in the tail 80 runs for the last two wickets 😉 . Have a nice hol in Cornwall. I will keep this topic warm for when you return.
Just curious where abouts in Cornwall did you stay?

Pure poetry in motion and so close to Lara`s test record. The right conditions and state of mind don`t come around too often to make those innings so he will have to wait for another crack.
I`m well pleased for Gough who has always been an honest hard working guy who is also liked in the dressing room. I hope they keep him in the side for the summer games so I can see him in July.
Our own season starts Sunday 18th April at home will let you know how we get on.
If you ever want to tour sunny Devon we can offer you a game and also put you in touch with other clubs to complete a tour.
Summer is a coming 😀Regards

Hip Hip Hooray at last I have found someone who shares the same passion as myself thanks Penguin.
Yep I still play for our local side as opener and slip fielder ( I leave all that other fielding to the youngsters ) if you know what I mean .
Only trouble is I can only bowl dolly drops now so I do not get asked very often.
On the back of the superb second test result I have booked Tickets to see
England versus New Zealand at Bristol on July 4th in a one day international. Should be a great day out , a victory would be superb 😀 .
Have a great season.Regards

Quite right I have recieved this morning info regarding these from Hotpoint. 11 new models all starting with prefix WF and new colour options ie Graphite, Polar,Aluminium and Sandstone ( which looks like a replacement for natural Linen) but I could be wrong as I have only seen a picture 😉 . Prices look similar to current models so i do not expect any better build factor but who knows. Spin speeds from 1000 to 1600 RPM all now take 6KG load. No mention yet as to when these will be available but I will keep you posted so you can keep an eye out for them.

ModeratorRe: Where did you start?
Started in the industry 1968 for a large independant in the Bournemouth area, servicing brown goods. Later transferred to sales of brown and some “white” goods. When I passed driving test my first van was a Vauxhall Viva, then later we too had the Renault 4 vans with the dashboard gearstick. We used to call them “loaf vans” because they were shaped like loaves of bread. I can remember my starting pay was £5.00
per week less deductions oh happy days. Like Martin we had our own celebs a certain J. Saville and that old smoothie T. Blackburn from radio
Caroline then later radio one. My old company was eventually taken over by one of the big rental companies of the day who then proceeded to close down some of the shops. Oh well no back to the future I suppose.regards

What a cracking picture Martin.
I managed to find a bit of info to go along with it.
In 1964 the Which magazine reported that the Hoover 3224, Hotpoint 1500 and the English Electric Liberator Mk2 were Joint top machines in that period. While I have no idea on price of the Hoover or the Liberator the Hotpoint was selling at £115 and 10 shillings. Can anyone else price the other two for us please. Before decimalisation 1 shilling = 5 new pence if I remember rightly.

I should not have a problem though as I do not think my little run a round is capable of much more than 30mph downhill with a following wind. 😉 But hey if it means that motorists may have to pay out less, then you can count on my support 😀 . Have registered my support
