ParticipantRe: Invoicing

When i’m on the job, if the customer needs an invoice as you I use a duplicate hand written invoice. If I need to to send one I just a word doc with a letter head with an individual incoe number. There is probably some all signing and dancing software to do it, but this works for me
Steve.
Dont you normally give an invoice to every customer you do a repair for? If not what do they have as a form of guarantee?

ParticipantRe: crosslee whitenight may have a problem 🙁
I would have thought the fire service would have been called, they would do a forensic investigation to pin point the ignition place and if any excellerants were used. If they dont know about it , i would give them a call because i think all is not what it seems, could a container of a flammable liquid have been on top that has spilled down the front and ignited?

I am with Martin on this as well.
As a footnote i would have found this fault on the first visit as we carry martindale socket testers which would have been used when we installed the machine, maybe you should invest in one and you also would have found this fault on the first visit, i dread to think what would have happened if the old boy had been electrocuted and you were the last to touch it

Is that qualified enough for you?Sigma 3 – delivery 4-6 weeks (from their website).
Howdens – planned and delivered in about 48 hours if required.Yep, 4 – 6 weeks as the kitchen is built to order, and thats all the carcase parts, not picked off a shelf, all cut and edged in the factory for each customer, and 20 odd different carcase colours!

Martin:-
its all about the chipboard, Howdens is less dense than any one elses, its lighter and not as strong, their laminate worktops are also less dense than others, so again not so strong and also have a tendancy to delaminate as do their doors, its a case of you get what you pay for.
Sigma 3 kitchens next to the Royal Mint in Lantrinsant, Cardiff, also Crown Kitchens at Daventry. Internals tend to be Blum (German) and even have minimum 10 year carcase warranty.
Is that qualified enough for you?

Not so, i sell british kitchens from a Welsh manufacturer which are far better quality and for about the same cost, so as i say overpriced for what they are.

ParticipantRe: Howdens Kitchens
I sell kitchens and Howdens kitchens are made from the lowest quality raw materials. So for me they are poor quality for the money, and to be honest they are usually fitted by the builder who is not a kitchen fitter, which accounts for the poor installtion

ParticipantRe: Baumatic appliances
Just to say that Baumatic appliance are made in Italy, Turkey and Asia. The latest Range cookers will be made in Italy, the premium built in ovens will be made in Italy, premium Hobs in Italy and the worst dishwashers in the world will still be made in China!!!!
Not all their stuff is rubbish, its built to a retail price and market.

ParticipantRe: Live testing
In some cases without doing a live test you could get inconclusive results, in some instances its the most conclusive way of ruling a component out as being at fault.
I think the key thing here is doing it safely, a simple thing to do is to carry a plug in rcd socket and plug the machine in to that and then use crocadile clips on the component being tested, its not dificult to be safe, the problem is there is a lot of inexperienced people fixing machines when they have no idea how to test and fault find and really shouldnt be let loose in someones house.DrDill
ParticipantRe: Live testing
Also, i have never been concerned about live testing, i have had worse belts off kitchen sinks that are not bonded. You sometimes take you life in your hands when you go in other peoples properties, its still a regular occurance to find burnt out sockets and un earthed extension leads and wrongly connected sockets, testing a machine live is probably the safest thing as we do at least have control over what we are doing!

ParticipantRe: Baumatic appliances
I am a Baumatic Dealer, have been for many years, i really do think its not the right place to rip in to Baumatic appliances, especially when the statements regarding where they are built etc is not neccessaryily the facts.
Before making this kind of statement a little more research should be done.I cant even find the model you mention, maybe thats where the problem is.
