    Re: Live testing

Isnt that what insulated crocodile clips and insulated probes are for? If you didnt do live testing how would you discover voltage drops and also how would you find out the current draw of components?

    Re: Baumatic appliances

You can get them from Baumatic direct, BCGXL and some from DAD.
We get them direct from Baumatic, the washers tend to be Fagor and the dishwashers same crap as matsuis etc.

    Re: New Speed Cameras

Known Accident Blackspots, surely the answer here is to redisign the road/junction to make it safer and then it wouldnt be an accident blackspot- that is more expensive and would bring no revenue so they put a camara there that catches every vehicle over the speed limit weather it was dangerous or not, speed cameras are cash generators, they do not have an opinion unlike the copper ion a car.

Things like that are a regular occurance down here, most committed by currys own installation team, we should be able to report them to someone as this could have been deadly!

    We say,

Hello, we repair appliance and it costs £xxxx + vat plus parts, where do you live, okay we can call to repair XXXXday.

We dont need to find much more info as the van has the stock on it, we cover the full area and we dont charge different rates depending how near they are or whether we like the customer or its a pig of a job.

I take telephone payments all the time, why cant they just punch the details into the PDQ machine and then its done. I pay lot of suppliers this way too, the data protection act is covered then as its with the PDQ terminal issueing bank.

Martin, yes i think you are right, for me to have a greater value in my “rants” i need to be on the “inside”, i have therefore requested a membership pack.
I have listened to all the replies to my “rants” and this i suppose is the right thing to do even though i will still have issues, but then again i disagree with some of the motoring laws but i havnt handed in my liscenece!

    Lawrence, you stated this:-

1.pre vetting members beyond the criteria already in place -not going to happen .

I am sorry that is pretty negative, if the WTA membership decided that the criteria included this then surely it is the membership that decides these things?

Nice try martin, the lenths some people will go to to see me in a costume!

Aidrian if i thought that i would be of benifit to the WTA i would take up your offer, but although i think i am right on some issues i would be a right pain in the arse and would drag you all backwards! Besides the possible fact that Ken would be on murder charge after killing me after the first pint!

    Re: DrDill’s Latest Bashing Thread

To clarify, a chairman for the WTA who solely works for the WTA is an ideal but not a deal breaker, its just my idealistic opinion, not me saying that unless it happens i wont join, i was merely trying to answer another posters question.

As Ken has previously said some of us are not so good at writing these replys as others so sometimes i dont get my point across, and as i was lambasted for not answering questions i am trying to where possible answer.

kwatt wrote:I see you edited a bit out DrDill.

How can you have members that do not have other interests if they are not fully paid for by the association?

    K.

What i mean is for at the very least the Chairman only being involved in the WTA, which i realise is dificult due to funding, but in the future the WTA could be self funding through subscriptions and the top job would be paid from that, i know unrealistic at the moment.

I did edit a bit out, and it was because i have recieved over a dozen emails containing the report sent by the WTA to th OFT, there is one main thing in there that i dont like or agree with but that is because it is from my perspective, so i deleted it.
I noticed that my input was on the last page and sent to the OFT.

Alex. I dont mean changes to personell as such except to say i believe that the council members or advisers ton should not have any conflict of interests.

DrDill, May I ask you to enlighten us about any ‘Conflict of interests’ that you consider WTA council members may hold, that they may answer your problem and possibly eleviate any problematic thoughts you may be having.

DrDill wrote:The main change i would like to see would be the joining criteria, every member to be visited, test equipment evaluated, previous customers contacted to gauge customer satisfaction, insurances inspected waste liscences mandatory so old parts can be recycled not go to landfill are just the start as far as i am concerned.

This paragraph holds many envisaged changes that would be nice to see, however, I forsee a few problems in that area:

1.. Unless a member carried waste then it is overkill to force a member to hold a licence for such. Maybe an answer to this is to ask the member on joining wether they carry waste and act thereafter

2.. Customer Opinion Screening by a third party, TA or not, without the prior opinion of that customer to release contact details would possibly be breaking Data Protection Laws.
I do realise that there are answers to these problems. Answers would need to be trialed and then implemented if successful.

You will notice I didn’t respond regarding visits, test equipment or insurances; this is due to the fact that it is already or shortly will be possible for visits and/or inspections to be done, but that is up to WTA to implement.. regarding members insurance certificates, the inspection of members PL insurance is already ongoing before membership.

DrDill wrote:I realise that not many agree with these suggestions as of costs etc but its my opinion and you asked, that is why will not join yet, but should that change in the future then i would join.
Some may see me as part of the problem and i accept that, but i do know we always operate to as high a standard as we can, which is more than the proposed COP.

I don’t have a problem with anything you suggest. Suggestions create improvements, even the negative ones.

I am a WTA member, and my reason for joining was to make a difference. Even though you can not see what individual members are doing to make changes, beleive me when I say that a fair number of members are pro-active.

So I say to you… Why not join and act to effect the change that you want in this profession.

    George

Ideally members of the council should not have interests with other organisations or be advisers to them, i think it could conflict.
