    Re: I should cocoa!

thats a new one, estimates for repairs on appliances with out seeing it, thats just wrong!
You read something bad about this trade every day on here, engineers without proper test equipment, engineers that steal customers property out of pumps and now engineers who would give estimates with out seeing the machine! I wonder how many of these “engineers” are members of trade assosiations? Or am i the odd one out?

Cant stand dishonesty! Never in 29 years have i ever kept anything that was in a customers house/ washing machine, even the rubbish is left on the side as it dosnt belong to me!
Keeping stuff and then giving it to charity is still theft no matter how you dress it up.
Cant believe any one would still do that and i am guessing they be members od a trade body too, and if so that raising questions for or profession.
Lets hope every one is joking!!

what will the WTA do to prevent this type of rogue repairer from being a member of the WTA? As far as i can see anyone with the basic criteria can join the WTA as you have to be open to all.

well that does make sense, but dont you think we do need something to rid us of the cowboy brush smeered against us all?

Mind you as far as the Watchdog proggramme goes, you cant help stupid people who hand over cash to someone they dont know and had just rang from the local paper.

that is again just your opinion Ken and you are entitled to it, but as always you have rubbished it and on this occasion knocked the Tory goverment, why? I dont get you some times, for a clever man you say some daft things sometimes.

Oh and let me be quite clear on this, its my opinion and i am not going to dismiss anyone elses opinion just because i disagree,….. unlike others on this forum.

    Re: bbc watchdog

I have tried to drum up some support for the idea, spoke to Adrian Welke about it and others, ie Gordon Jones at RETRA, but it seems that whilst we still have people in the trade that rubbish every thing that might require some investment on thier part it will be shouted down by those that have the loudest voices.
I have been in the trade 29 years and like then and now its still got the cowboys in and i believe the only way to give this trade a professional standing is to have some form of recognition and standards. It will never get the support whilst there is people around who dont want it because they dont want to pay to be part of it.
