    Re: Anyone heard of..

Yep this was at http://www.pistonheads.co.uk in the homes, garden and diy thread.
Not sure if you can jump in without registering but this is the thread.
its good to see that ISE has had its name dropped in there a couple times almost taken for granted now that it exists alongside Miele as an alternative.
The message that caused the upset was just me commenting on someone elses post about a Miele washer drier, in no way did I say Miele were bad or poor quality, infact quite the opposite. My only other post regarded the cost of the spares, again fact. Simon Jenkins uses the screen name “Mr Flathead” and I was stupid enough to repsond to his email for me to ring him, thinking he was a member of the public maybe seeking advice. Checking his previous postings elsewhere on the forum, there is nothing to suggest he is in our industry at all and the previous post he has made about the Miele drum is a blatent advert given that he has not declared himslef as a Miele employee. And as for his claim that the Miele honeycombe drum contributes a lot to the overall weight of the machine would suggest he knows little technicaly.
He also could not answer my question (posed to check his authenticity) about Miele model numbers and the letter they start with.
I just dont know if he was genuine or not.
As I said, the call started with threats of legal action and ended with almost bribary!

thanks for reading gandh1 I have sorted it, I checked what models use the same timer and have found one marked in all the correct places. Cannot understand why those particular ones are obsolete though.

Phidom wrote:No, I was probably confusing the issue there. The inverter microwaves don’t have the big capacitor and the magnetron wires go to a circuit board mounted in the base of the machine.

more obviously…..they dont have a transformer and the wieght associated with it.

Torxhead, please do not start new threads on the same subject. AFAICT there are 3 threads running on this same issue.

Re: Keep Me Away From Them…

you know something, for a few months now I have wondered what a manufacturer, maybe looking for agents whatever, would think of UKW had they read some of the posts/ queries. Its not showing us in a professional light thats for sure.
I really hope we dont get the reputation of a cowboys forum.

Sounds like Torxhead is stuck on a commercial, twin mag, microwave. Given that such as bleed resistors are not always fitted to the caps on these the mind boggles at what could happen and how or why a commercial organisation has given it to him to repair.

Re: Summer music festivals – anyone out and about???

used to do a lot but it all became a bit much once we camped next to a buch of stockbrokers and thought, hey, thats it, we are out!
now do the “boutique” festivals such as green man in Brecon in August. A great friendly athmosphere and wide range of acts from literature to comedy as well as the main stages. Headliners so far this year are the Flaming lips (right up my street!) and Billy Bragg. But always find someone interesting who you have never heard of before. and non of that vip area crap either, last year I queud for the toilets with Jarvis Cocker who headlined the night before!
