Re: Hotpoint CTD 80 t/dryer stats?

Cheers Chris, according to my Uni-fit rep there 2 different types, 1703607 & 1703608, the stats fitted to this m/c are that one of ’em is black with a pip on the back & the other is off white [like any other button stat],which lives next to it. Is one the stat & t’other the thermister or is it that somewhere else. S# is 510200532.
    regards Chris..

    Re: Inlet taps

I got a soaking this summer, thought I’d turned the taps off [stop tap type] cold was ok but the hot just shot out everywhere, told customer to turn off the stop tap in the airing cupboard, but there wasn’t one! Got him to turn all the hot taps on in the house ,just to lower the pressure so as to get a blanking plug on .NIGHTMARE. I was soaked, luckily it was summer [think winter 😥 ], oh & it was in a garage, thank god! But that hot tap was seized solid ,I thought it was off! Oh well my fault but these taps are getting more of a problem especially with the new m/cs coming with cold fill only, the old hot taps sometimes just wont turn off, they can also weep a little ,if in doubt fit a blanking plug! Surely some of our suppliers should be stocking these plugs,we have to go to a plumbers merchants & then he doesn’t keep ’em on stock!

That reminds me of the dvd ” Long Way Round” staring Ewan McGregor & Charlie Boorman, you should see some of the roads they had to navigate!

Re: How many calls a day?

My day consists of a 18mile trip to HQ but sometimes a call or 4 are put in on the way [sometimes I don’t reach HQ while noon] but the nearer the job to my house the later start I have 🙂 .I don’t do just service calls though ,oh no ,installations which can sometimes take longer than a call [upstairs flats, blocked waste pipes, removing old m/cs] then get back to sort my stock out & the latest delivery, oh & if I have any spare time [my boss speaking] can I come & help him on an electrical job? Sometimes NO, got job on way home ”wey-heyy” 🙂 🙂 early finish!! Just got to follow the ‘numpties’ that carn’t drive in the dark all the way home 😡

    Re: tight customers

I fear that triangle has grown to a rather large square! and ever expanding, we used to work for the Expert group[remember them], on several ocassions had to go onto the Brandsholme estate [shudder], we had to in pairs, one to sit & mind the van & t’other to do the job, neither a good option! I would have thought 100m ohms would be classed as well within limits!
