Moderatorif assuming either 2 or 3 reads to brushes then thermal cutout failed
Dave

Moderatorok put your multimeter on a low ohm scale
place one lead on one of the brushes then try ever contact on the motor connector. disconnect motor before trying. you should get a reading on 2 of them
if you dont thermal overload blown
Daveelectrofix
Moderatorthe board only supplies the motor so that is why your motor is not turning
the tracks on the board that blew are designed to act like a fuse and will have blown when the brush shorted
if you know how to test the board you can repair it but you have to know how to test a bridge rectifier
other than that it needs replacing

Moderatorgoogle search [h=3]2817690100[/h]
you will find this board at the top of the machine on the right in a cradleremove board and check for blown tracks as this board has fusible tracks in case of shorts

Moderatorthe boards sofware remembers the setting on non volatile memory
this is not happening so its a board fault
unless there is a button cell on the board a bit like a computer bios to keep the memory. dont know not seen the board to know

Moderatorprobably get complete hinges and screws

Moderatordoes sound like a board problem and the bad news is Hotpoint boards have to be programmed so cant be fitted by anyone without the correct gear
