K.
but have no idea of the difference.
use pattern parts and you will need to dust more often so more work. am sure no one thinks of that
but also the gen parts in some cases are over pricedrecently had a Dyson in the needed filters. on this machine there are 2 identical filters one either side of the ball. part no 966738-02
gen price to me £25 each non gen price £8.60 madness. which would you chose? the one that makes the machine unrepairable or the one that doesn’t

Moderatorcan agree with that
you have 2 units with the same fault at the same time so its either a design fault or a 1000 to 1 faultare they on the same circuit? as K says all it would take is a loose screw in a socket or the like to cause a spark and upset the breaker
also is that breaker an MCB or an RCBO as is it an RCBO it will be a lot more sensitive to bad joints

Moderatorthat sounds like the rear fan catching on the casing

Moderatorok does it spark even if the rings are all off ?
and yes as Don said. to fix anything on a hob the unit would have to be removed. since this would mean breaking a gas connection then any repair would have to be done by a gas safe engineer

Moderatorhave had similar problems where the screw hole rusts over time till it wont hold
you either need to drill another hole somewhere else or as i do in the later ones manufacture some kind of bracket

Moderator1 i can change , edit delete any post because i am a moderator
2 my info comes from the original service manual I bought years ago. when the part no changed maybe 30 years ago we added the number to that manual. if a part no changes now we have to rely on a supplier to put a link to the new number or the manufacturers website

Moderatorthe ridges at the bottom were meant to strenthen the rubber and stop it sagging at that point
any hole in the gasket will leak. holes higher up only leak on spin
the original gasket part no seems to be
168260 this was changed to 168908. neither are listed anywhere now so if the one you have fits use it. Think there were 2 different gaskets, one for the plastic fron and the other for metal fronted but cant remember

Moderatorcheck you have the correct pump, there are 2 different pump in this range and the connector looks similar
the pump itself act as a sensor with the module sensing the current drawn to determine if water is in the machine. They use the wash motor for the same purpose at other points in the cycle

Moderatorhad holes in the main tubs a few time , some pretty big ones, but with a soldering iron you can plastic weld them back together quite successfully
these machine were good as was the WM series that followed. it was probably the WM6 series which was the best
the next series WMA was not as easy to do but still good. after that we sung down and down
if your stuck for a clip will have a look

is your drum front the metal or the plastic one as the plastic one can puncture

Moderatorwell often there are 2 missing at the top left and right of the middle but am sure i will have a few knocking around somewhere if needed
if clips are loose you can carefully tweak them a bit with pliers to get them tighter but never need to replace them
