Participantmy friend today was at a meeting and the only insurance jobs that they are stopping are the ones which generate few calls he has quoted halifax insurance.
So i dont think it was all good news for us.

Participantbeen speaking to a comet engineer today who just does refrigeration.

Participantsize might be a problem ie dimension of compressor to hole avaialable because it seems aspera are now sending taller compressor out on 1/5hp size.

Participantaccording to aspersa this size of cabinet works ok for 1/6hp compressor and it does

Participantthe reason more likly is that the model in question suffers badly from an internal gas leak on fridge evaporater which is not repairable it has also been a problem that if the compressor has died naturally that replacing the compressor aggrivates that the leak will definatly occur so the option is scrap it and dont waste the time and effort and cost I would inmagine that over the last 5 years this model has been around nearly all insured ones will have been replaced due to the extent of the problem.
iceland had this same problem and so did comet all made by ocean/brandt before they went bust.
I been to them and nothing is worse then changing the pot and then 1-2 months later leak happens not so bad if warranty but when its a chargeable call its a ongoing problem with customer.

Participantif 3 and 7 are lighting up the cause is due to refrigerator air sensor faulty.
As quoted from bulletin that certain fault diagnosis lights will light up if pcb detects and sensor value above 200k ohms and below 400 ohm.
Good old expert tech manual.
I am not suprised that either will not give out the info.
The bulletin only lists 3 sensors and guess what none are replaceable..
If anyone wants a copy of it PM me.

ParticipantI think people look at it still that way the more you pay the better it is just ask around to see what has happened to all these manufactuers. I was aeg trained some 20 years ago when aeg was a german company now its own by electrolux and hardly make nything in germany anymore its all italian they have the manufacturing base now and coming up behind ate the chinese and koreans.
If its got pink and yellow lights on it and you like it buy it.

ParticipantRe: samsung fridge freezer
if its showing rd its related to a damper motor failure in the freezer.

ParticipantHAVE YOU CHECKED THE DOOR SEAL UNDER THE BOTTOM SHELF AS WHEN MILK IS SPILT THE CUSTOMER ONLY CLEANS THE SHELF.
TAKE THE SHELF OUT AND YOU WILL SEE THE DOOR SEAL ON THE DOOR,JUST PULL THE SEAL OFF AND YOU WILL SEE A CRUSTY PALE FLAKES TAKE A SNIFF.WIPE AND WASH DOWN WITH AN ANTIBACTERIAL WASH LIKE DETOX MILTON STERALISNG SOLUTION.
IF THE GAS GOES IT GOES AND IT WONT WORK.

Participantif you dont want to splash out on commercial as it seems you are in a commercial enviroment you will have a problem with a domestic fridge of that size.
If you indeed must have a domestic one all i would recomend would be to hunt one down with a fan in the fridge i know that servis did one,lec did on i know miele do one but it wont be at beko prices this fan will pull the fridge down quickly but if it goes wrong in warranty in commercial premises its frowned on and often you will either get 3 months warranty or they will void it altogether.expertcat
Participantmore than likely both italian made using the same brand of compressor.
pay your money and take your luck.
in my view the day of paying £1000 and getting a machine that lasts 20 years have long gone if anything you would poss have more problems than buying say a matching beko set that would cost £500.
And thats the decission anybody has to make if it looks nice to you buy it theres not many single brands out there the 2 brands you mnention hotpoint are indesits and aeg are zanussi both italian and italy seems to be the market leaader of white goods.

Participantunusual for the light to be off unless the bulb has also gone.

Participantthe problem with quoting the 0 to 5 degrees temperature range is as this only applies to commercial refrigeration enviroments and not dosmestics.in a domestic situation they can say they are within tolerance but i have seen these in commercial enviroments because they are cheaper than a commercial unit but the customer expects a temperature of below n5 degrees when the door is being opened every 5 mins.

Participanti dont think that may be your problem.
when i worked on behalf of beko i saw alot of these with the same fault.
all we did was change the stat and regas. if it came back ber report.
whenever i changed the doors all i did was put the fridge at 45 degrees against a wall.

ParticipantWhy did brandt and ocean go bust………
Because of the inherited fridge evaporater leaking.
I think it would be a waste of time taking the retailer to small claims why not waste your time better and go and sue the manufactuer as it is there problem not the retailers.
