Should be 2 thermostats, one sits in a bracket by the heater and another little one screws into the underside of the tub on r/h/s underneath.

A couple of years back I got called to a Zanussi de6544, not starting – cycle light flashes slowly like its about to start but no go.

By the time I got to this one of my colleages had fitted pcb, door lock, heater, pump & side tank & still no joy. I went in armed with a wiring diagram must have spent 2 hours checking everything. Finally in sheer desparation and by this time thouroughly p****d off I yanked all the wires of the rinse aid dispenser, shut the door – click & away it went.

Changed the dispenser, worked fine, checked the old one & couldnt find a thing wrong then a few weeks later I got called to another 6544 with the same problem. This time I went straight to the r/a/d & changed it – sorted.

Sounds like you may need a new door lock, or a pcb if your really unlucky

If your trafic is anything like my vivaro then it spends most of its life in the dealership either waiting for bits or waiting for a mechanic with enough savvy to work out whats wrong with it. Has now been off the road for 6 weeks in the last 5 months. That said when it does run it is quite rapid.

Yes, done exactly the same thing & waved to the customer from the phone box.

Had one a couple of years back where I rang someone from the van, explained where I was & the guy bascily gave me directions from the next town, went on for about 5 minutes & eventually he said “there’s no house name but at the moment, there’s a white service force van parked outside my house”

That would be me trying to find you then…

Just realised what we’ve been replying to. Very funny Chezza.
There is an up side though, the wife papped herself when she thought she’d been done for speeding.

That’s if theres a house name at all, you also get the odd “oh, must get the sign put back up”

You ring the home number for directions, your out in the middle of nowhere, you’ve driven round for half an hour, theres no one to ask & no local shop so you’ve parked on the biggest hill you can find to get a signal and you’re greeted with “Welcome to BT answer 1571” because they’re either on the phone to the friend down the road or surfing t’internet while theyre sat at home waiting for you.

IMHO I don’t think anyone has been abusive to you here, from my perspective, if I were to give you detailed instructions on how to repair your machine and you then suffered an injury in doing so, I would be legally liable for giving you that info in the first place, that’s why many contributors to this site give limited info in these public forums.

It’s clear that you’re very lucky that you tested your machine rather than let it run overnight as the money you’ve saved on repair bills would have been wiped out straight away. As the Penguin has said, the problem is most likely with the water tank in the side, so you either need to replace it or fit a couple of additional kits to the machine that will control the water levels from a different location, this kit also comes with a new inlet valve which the guys here should be able to supply you.

I have one observation, please don’t take this the wrong way – clearly you are a well educated and intelligent individual but why when you decided to replace the valve did you not replace it with an identical part? You surely must have realised that the pipe fitted on the top was there for a reason, after all if you fitted a new part to your car and had a hose left over would you shove a pencil up it & drive ?

So is the Road Angel the best detector to buy? Been thinking about getting one for a while, currently have no points but I cover approx 800 miles a week so its only a matter of time before the local photographic society catch me out even though I do try to be careful.

df47/55 needs a specific thermostat to operate properly as the stat controls a solenoid valve at the back as well as the compressor, if you have fitted the right stat & wired it correctly then the valve has probably failed, changing it will involve regassing the system.

The kit gives you the fan motor, capacitor, wiring, new backplate, seals for backplate, additional wiring & wiring instructions. It’s intended to modify from the old belt driven fan to the electric one. Motor will be the same as the one in the t/d already.
