Also worth checking the loom connector plug on the display board, it may just need the pins in the connector bending slightly.

It sounds like refrigerant circulation noise, they are quite prone to it and theres no real cure. It can be worse when it’s just finished a defrost cycle.

The AEG is made in the same factory as the Zanussi and is pretty much the same internally so you may as well save yourself a few quid and buy the Zanussi.

Bearing in mind that the fl828 was the most basic model in the range at the time and the equivalent 800 spin version nowadays is well under 200 quid plus going by that serial number your machine is over 14 years old – £250 from your insurer is a pretty good offer. the Zanussi you’ve mentioned will be better spec’d than your current model but I agree that the Bosch will be better.
However… was your machine directly damaged by your flooded bathroom, could this be a coincidence and just a dud door lock?
Just a thought.

Dave’s right, it is a 2004 week 11 so presumably you would have bought it mid 2004 making it just over 18 months old.
It might, just might be worth speaking to zanussi & explaining your situation, you will need to find your original purchase receipt and although its out of its first year guarantee you have nothing to lose but the cost of the phone call.
As for changing the pump yourself – forget it, I’ve done a couple and its fiddly – particularly the hose clips.

ParticipantRe: Tricity Bendix DH090 dishwasher – not letting water in
My method:
Take the syphon tubes out & clean them, while theyre out tilt the machine back (or if it has a base cover, lay on its back & take the cover off) and take off the horseshoe hose & clean it thouroughly. Refit 1 end back onto one of the sump connections and blow hard through the other end, then fit the hose to the other connection & do the same again. Pull off the 2 pressure hoses, check for water in the hoses & refit. Put the blue tubes back in, reasssemble then fill & drain the machine 3 times. Sorted.farmboy

during the late 80,s and early 90,s all the models had to be visited, checked and modified if faulty.
was a good overtime earner! And not forgetting the Z30 / DW400 wiring loom recalls and the 1200 spin washing machine motor failiures.

That would be an old FL811 which by that serial no is nearly 18 years old – darn good machine too.
From memory the old sole pump was 50099251006 (i’ll get me anorak) though it got superceeded and changed to an askoll conversion kit. Later models had an askoll pump fitted so universal head will fit.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi FX1465 w spinning problem
If it is a motor, heater or pressure switch problem then it should be flagging up an error code using the start & end lights, if youre getting no errors at all and nothing in the memory then i would look again at the load balancing as that would cause reduced speed spin or no spin at all depending on how unbalanced it is.
Those models have reams of error codes for almost evrything apart from out of balance.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Jeysystem 1400 – Slow spin speed
How many times has this happened?
How much was in the machine at the time? (small load?)Could be down to the size/balance of the load – if the machine can’t balance it properly it will spin at a lower speed or if really off balance it won’t spin at all.

I remembered seeing this problem referred to before.
After much searching found a post by farmboy in “What’s the most useful tool in your toolbox?”
He advocates a bit of p/sw tubing if I understand him correctly, though he doesnt say how but I think we can guess. Sounds well worth a try.
PS Any ideas how to get the best from the site search engine?
Mike.Take a piece of pressure tubing
Open the door
Feed the pressure tube down between the tub & drum at the 5 o’clock position
Slowly rotate the drum clockwise until the pressure hose reaches near to 12 o’clock position this should have picked up the item & moved it to the top
Now yank the hose out while holding your hand underneath
The item should fall into your handYou may need to do the above a few times and may be easier to take the seal off but this never fails, i’ve removed screws, broaches even a back door key using this method. Any attempt to force the drum will just bend it out of shape.

Don’t you just love ’em – I had an electric solid hob a few years back wired on 13A flex, the customer complained of a burning smell everytime she used all 4 rings together…

ParticipantRe: Zanussi FJDR1466W
Remove the display board & check the plug connection on it, unplug it & carefully bend the pins back & refit, that usually causes E90/E91.

You need to go into the diagnostic program and check the last error code.

leavemetogetonwithit wrote:Yep, I read that on the sticker on the side of the timer before fitting and I was already aware of it anyway. Funny enough I had to hunt through my box for some suitable spring washers as there didn’t seem to be any with the original screws. (They were the type with serrations (sp?) on the contact face of the screwhead anyway and I think they were relatively short so it’s possible that Zanussi have sussed that problem by now).
Mike.If it has those screws fitted then you don’t need any washers
