    Re: Shoes Off please

I had a very similar experience to funkyboogy where the customer insisted that i put on the overshoes he gave me cos he didnt want his new b&q laminate floor dirty’d by my size 11s. Made several trips to the van via the gravel drive, ripped them to bits in the process & he still demanded them back when i finished.

You could try the zanussi TC450, the earlier version of the 470 which came fitted with an electric fan motor fitted on production, not sure about the price, probably not much different to the complete kit.

E91 – remove fascia & unplug blue ribbon cable from display pcb.
carefully bend the pins of the ribbon connector back towards the centre of the plug, re attatch to the display pcb & refit fascia, shouldnt need any new parts if its E91 in the memory, its also worth clearing the machine fault memory.

Best 2 items in my toolbox: zanussi tub spring hook tool custom made by an ex colleague of mine, much easier than shoe laces, string, old belt etc. also works well on dishwasher springs. My other favorite is the small bit of rubber pressure hose which is perfect for removing screws/nails when they get wedged between the drum lip & tub front on zanussi/lux/aeg wm’s – havent had to separate a tub for this in years also good for clearing defrost drains in fridges.

Electricmalc, its either a case of just undoing the bulb cover inside the tub or removing the r/h side panel – it may be a LV halogen blub so there will be a transformer lurking underneath somwhere. And can sombody please explain why the #$!* we need a light in a dishwasher? I mean you cant load em without pulling the baskets out – whats wrong with the kitchen light…

Re: electrolux fridge freezer—–fridge stopped working??

ER2650b is a frost free model if memory serves, if the fridge isnt cold enough i suspect theres something wrong in the freezer area – either its not defrosting itself properly or theres a system fault. The green light not working is just the neon & isnt a problem unless you miss your green light. Dont reckon a new stat will fix this one, sounds like engineer time.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Why when you phone someone elderly for directions do they direct you past something thats been knocked down, like “do you know where the post office used to be? – well it’s a house now…” the other one i often used to get was “well, everyone in the village knows where i am just ask someone” the fact that ive flagged down 3 people already…

As for dogs – i got sent to fix a machine in the kennel block of a dog breeder. The bloke assured me that he had put them all safely out of my way, what hed actually done is shut them in the yard – where my van was parked. Went out to get parts & got chased by a pack of basset hounds. Dont be fooled by them hush puppy ads these b*ggers were vicious, and boy can they shift – just about made it into the van & had to shout to the bloke to call them off. My biggest mistake was relaying this story to my wife – every time she sees a hush puppy ad poster or a droopy cartoon i get the p*ss taken out of me something rotten. Give me an alsation any day…

Re: Zanussi Fridge Freezer keeps defrosting

Zk56/38rf is an R134a system, and is NOT prone to internal leaks – I have come across a few of this design with system restrictions – if your lucky the restriction can be cleared, if your unlucky it’ll need a new evaporator which although the part aint cheep its actually not too bad a job to fit. It’s worth getting an experienced zanussi eng to give it a once over, i wouldnt bin it just yet.

    Re: Zanussi wjd 1257 W

I’ve come accross this before on zanussi w/ds & on each occasion it was the coil on the drain pump. Found that after about 20-30 mins drying cylce the pump just stopped dead, when took the pump out the coil was red hot – there is also a thermal cut-out in the coil of the pump on these mc’s. As for the dryer ntc sensor, there should be 2 – 1 on the condenser tank & 1 on front of metal dryer duct. If your in diagnostic cycle reading the error code, press “temperature” once which should bring on fan & dryer heaters etc. should see 2 sets of numbers alternating on the display, this is the temperature reading of the 2 ntc probes so if theyr knacked youll get a way out temp reading from 1 of them.

I totally agree about not trusting the error codes these things dont cope with earth faults too well – quite often used to get pressure switch fault code when the dryer heater had an earth fault and only ever saw 1 which had a motor earth fault and actually put the right code up!

Re: Zanussi DWS39 Not working properly

It doesnt sound like a timer fault, more likely the inlet valve has locked due to a blockage if it is stopping completely, can you hear a faint humming sound from the inlet valve? if so:

Take out the filter, you should see a clear plastic dome with a screw in the top, under this are 2 blue tubes – these may be blocked. If they are then its likely that the hose underneath the machine is blocked as well. normally its in a grey cover & shaped like a horseshoe. You will need to pull the machine out & lay it on its back to reach it so obviously dont attempt any of this unless you are 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} confident at what your doing & make sure you unplug first. You may also need to reset the inlet valve, usually just removing the inlet hose is enough to reset, otherwise it might need a gentle tap.

The other alternative is to call an engineer, if its a blockage then your probably not looking at vast sums of money to repair it and most zanussi engineers love the sight of a machine with syphon tubes in it!

Sadly it’s a long way to go for a beer but if im ever passing through i’ll bear it in mind. I tend to get lost & afraid if i have to go any further east than Southampton – not used to these things they call motorways, we dont ‘ave ’em round ‘ere!!!
