ParticipantRe: John Lewis JLTDCO5 condenser tumble dryer
Thanks for all your help helo_75. Once I could check up on the Zanussi TCE 7276W information on the problem was fast and furious.
The clear plastic diffuser plate behind the pcb brakes up as the plastic 3 prong spigots snap when the buttons are pressed.A design fault by Zanussi. Instead of getting another diffuser plate that would go the same way. I used a plastic rawl plug and epoxy the end to the start/stop button. This leaves the three plastic open spigots to pull the button away from the microswitch once the central pip has been cut away.
Now the start button pushes directly onto the microswitch without a flimsy plastic pip that breaks off. Problem solved. Sure the Zanussi chaps know about this one.
Thanks yet again helo_75 for the info which got me on the right road to repair.

Had a suggestion that the diffuser behind the buttons has been known to break off. Microswitch on pcb never gets pushed in when the Start/Pause button gets pressed.
Will have a last attempt at taking apart the front panel with the buttons on tomorrow to see if any are broken off.Chris

Back again folks with John Lewis/Zanussi 2005 tumble dryer. Type P542266. Prod No:91609270400.
Checked and cleaned out condenser plus sensor signals with a beep.
Heating element looks in good condition and elements checked ok.
Water tank pipework all ok.
Motor windings checked.
Door also works and beebs ok.
Drying.Cooling.End LED’s all on when dial is set for a run.
Filter.Full Tank. Condenser LED’s all off.
No error messages on screen?
Start/Pause LED flashing to run programme.
PCB is Elux 125117843
Firmware T2B00303Are there any hidden temp sensors on this tumble dryer that could have gone open circuit?
Nothing incorrect comes up on the front panel screen?
Is there a full reset by pressing a couple of buttons all at the same time when switching on the power.
Just will not start the drive motor. Could the main pcb have got damaged and not switching on the current to motor.Any ideas what to check for on this model. Is there a Zanussi number which is the same as the JLTDCO5 tumble dryer.

Late reply but sorted out the leaking problem.
The two goalposts which were sealing the corners of the lid were present.
There was a large gap along the front of the door which caused the water to pour out once the pump had started.
Found a soft rubber strip to super glue along the length to each goal post on the bottom of the lid.
Problem solved, no more water flooding out and running over the owners work service.
Have now heard that some other owners of this Bosch unit have had the same problem with no bottom seal along the full length. Bosch design fault.FlyingBrick

Have taken off the plastic door cover and noticed that the water splashes up in the middle of the trough at the front.
There is only a rubber seal on each side of the door sealing the water from splashing out held in place by two ruuber grommets.
As fingers have been into the front lid by the customer should the bottom rubber seal run all the way along the bottom of the door and not just three inches each side with a long gap at the bottom which allows the water to splash out.Should the rubber seal go all the way along the bottom of the door before somebody played around with it?

ParticipantRe: Miele W698 Washing Machine Fault.
Thanks Penguin45
UKWhitegoods came back very quickly with a price of £34.95 plus P&P which is closer for the couple to have it repaired plus labour.
As the machine was a close friend of the wife(who must always be obeyed) I thought I would hunt around for other sources of Miele parts in the EEC to get realistic prices for repairs in the future.
Nettoparts came up from Denmark on Google and they charged £22.64 for the heating element all in to the front door including VAT at 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} in Denmark. But they have not replied to any of my emails or a fax at nettoparts@mail.dk Will leave alone for a while and some sniffing around.Heater fitted ok and W698 back up and running after cleaning out the white plastic pressure vessel as you had advised, masses of hardened crapp came out after a good boil up before refitting it to the drum.
Thanks again penguin45 as I did not find the element on the UKWhitegoods webpage and assumed they did not have it in stock,
Hence the Google searching.FlyingBrick

Hi cornwell40
As the washing machine was owned by a friend of the wife and a retired couple I used Google to search for Miele parts.
espares came up with £122.49 for the element, 4silverhillspares wanted £95.75 and after a quick email to UKWhitegoods it came right down to £34.95 plus P&P. (bless em) plus labour. But Google also showed Nettoparts with VAT at 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} plus P&P all in to my front door for a total of £22.64 from Denmark.
Had sent yet another email to the company thanking them but still no reply from nettoparts@mail.dk
Parts fitted ok and heating restored once again after taking out the plastic pressure vessel that was completely blocked and caused the heater to turn on without any water in the drum?
Norfolk has hard water in our area around 450ppm Ca and the couple do not use Calgon water softner.
Old Miele running like new again aprox 18 years old?

Back again after a lot of searching and proof of a real place thanks to Google Earth. Nettoparts seems to be a large farm holding in the middle of the Danish Island Haslev.
After more digging around in the Danish papers on the website I had found two new phone numbers for the locals to ring. Tried these numbers and surprise a real human voice answered.
Nettoparts does exist and after pointing out that the order went in on the 11th JUne they have sent the package out on Friday the 20th June and the Miele heating element arrived this morning on the 23rd June in a bubble package.
Very good price although the VAT is charged at 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} in Denmark. But will leave them for a while as they do not answer your emails, faxes or the answerphone from the UK.
UKWhitegoods answer all my emails quickly and locate parts without spending a day hunting around to find out if they exist.
Will not be so kind to old folk running around all day to save them money in the future.FlyingBrick

Having sent out an order to Nettoparts and many emails plus a fax I have now spoken to the company after locating a new phone number that does answer from Denmark.
They have put the order out again after a chat on Friday 21st June the element has arrived first thing this Monday morning in a bubble pack.
Will not be using this company for a while as they do not reply to emails or faxes.
Back to good old UKWhitegoods, they answer all my emails and dig out hard to get parts.Flying Brick

ParticipantRe: Miele W698 Washing Machine Fault.
Hi folks
Will email UK Whitegoods for a price as so far we are down to £95 plus P&P from other sources.
Wow all that for a straight element which does not come with an expander rubber and bolt.
Thanks again for all your help on Miele. Great website.Chris

ParticipantRe: Miele W698 Washing Machine Fault.
Thanks Penquin45.
Well done, spot on.
Blocked as you had adviced, had suggested good old Calgon two years ago as the water in Norfolk is around 400ppm Ca and they don’t use a water softner.
Great flakes of scale found in the pump unit from the heater and the small water pressure pipe to valve nearly blocked. Thinking about using another make of heater and pushing the straight heating pipe through the original rubber seals to get around the £100 for a 2Kw heating element? Most heaters use the expanding plug with a single bolt, the Miele uses two crinkle washers to hold the tubuler heating element in place I thnk.

Back again.
Have checked the brushes which are ok but now realise that the heating element is not coming on when the temp knob is turned up to 40* plus on the front panel.
Had the front panel hinged back and found that the heating element is reading infinity?
Miele prices are around £100-£122 for a new element when a normal one is around £25. Any good place to look for a replacement element at a more realistic price that fits in the W698?Many thanks

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFF1201/GB/01 Washing Machine.
Thanks chaps.
Have been busy scratching my head about the problem; tend to agree with you all.
I can check most of the surface mounted transistors on the underneath and all the diodes on the board looking for a blown one without any luck. I did de-solder the main triac on the heat sink plus the small one standing alone and used a Peak atlas SCR tester which said they were working as triac’s. Both relays were powered up externally and the contacts measured less than 0.2 ohm so I had run out of ideas on this PCB. Main microprocessor I cannot test.
A few years ago I was brought round a company in Workington by a local service engineer which had some women repairing AKO control timer boards upstairs with a few test beds to run up these units and then sell as re-conditioned units to the trade but cannot remember the company name for a cheaper alternative.
Any more help chaps as I hate to be beaten on this one; I take it that the water pressure valve would not have taken the full belt of current when the heater shorted down to earth via the water in the drum. But the contacts did seem to buzz out when I carefully blew down a plastic pipe to change over the contact position.

ParticipantRe: Indesit DI620 – Please help 🙂
Thanks Jim
Guess I will have to order a new complete Flextronics PCB and hope that clears down the errors 1&4 on the Idesit D1 620. No dry joints and the PCB is well made.
Next time I will try a Bosch dishwasher.
Kind regardsChris

ParticipantRe: Indesit DI620 – Please help 🙂
Hello from FlyingBrick
I am trying to fix the same fault on my Indesit D1620UK model with the pcb problem showing LED 1&4 flashing as soon as the power is turned on?
Checked the Flextronics PCB and all the triacs seem ok but cannot check the EPROM.
The Blue wire goes to FST1
The Pink wire goes to FST2
Yes I have checked all the main components and still have not cleared down LED’s 1&4 let me know what you find?Kind regards
