Re: Neff Premium Collection 2 with faults?

    Thanks BSH-MAN

My own kitchen is being pulled apart at the moment and my wife has ordered Neff appliances for the complete kitchen update after 24 years of use.
Will be interesting to see how well the cooker panel operates once I have installed the fittings and Neff microwave/ cooker plus other items.
Can’t beat the old knob switches for reliability. Our Zanussi fan oven has lasted 24 years without replacing anything on it.

    Thanks Stratfordgirl

Over the years so many companies have changed ownership it is fun keeping up with who owns what. Just the same with combination microwave ovens that have the same manufactured Chinese magnetron and transformer but with the oven company sticker on them.
Once one can suss out the original spec great savings can be made looking for a far cheaper item from the manufacture without the oven company sticky label put on afterwards.

    Hi eastimark

As Smeg and Neff are run I think by the same company and have shared components in them you could be right. Apparently some Neff users have had their Neff engineer in to change boards as the pick up on the capacitance feature of fingers touching the glass does not always register.
Seems to be very quite about these unnecessary features when a good old mechanical knob does the job. Want to turn up the heat on my van just rotate the knob by feel. If I use the Mrs Yeti have to stop and look down at the touch screen and play about just to turn the dam thing off. Will let the customer decide to go for a flashy glass front or back to a far cheaper model with mechanical switches.
    So much for progress.

Re: Microwave combination oven Sharp R-957

Took a punt on a second hand one on eBay by Green Recycling Ltd.
Slightly smaller windings for a lower powered Sharp transformer but the filament long lead had been cut right through from the transformer base whilst in transit. (5 kg)
Hope to wire it up and check the lamination temp whilst on and monitoring the HT voltage. (have a 40KV high voltage probe)
Many thanks Dave for the email. Hands in pockets on this one?

    Back Don

Looks like it is: KIR24A40GB/02 that looks possible for a fridge with the same hinges and salad drawer.
Will stop off when passing and double check with a magnifier.

Did start of with KIR the first time then decided it might be wrong.
Will have another search today for the fridge.

Re: Dimplex LXY15 Loxley Optiflame electric fire.

Could be Dave as sometimes the fan and lights come on then after 1-4 minutes all goes off and you cannot turn the relay back on?
Did check the rect bridge diodes and all the resistors on the board plus the capacitance of the caps which were all in spec. Will have a closer look once the new pcb turns up.
Relay turns off and on quickly when run up on a separate PSU from 18v – 24v dc no problem.

    Cheers Dave

Re: Dimplex LXY15 Loxley Optiflame electric fire.

Collected electric fire and took off the receiver pcb and started to check it out. All caps and diodes found to be ok so unsoldered the relay off the board but that turned out to be ok with the coil at 1.58K ohms and the fire element at 42.6 ohms. No shorts to earth. Just the relay turning off and on slowly so not being given the full 24v DC?
Decided to stop playing with the FP06008 board and order a new one from Torreelectrics at £45 and hope that runs ok for the elderly lady.

When I have some spare time I will set up the faulty pcb in my workshop with a PSU to see what does go down with these units after some 6-7 years of use.
    Thanks chaps for your ideas.

Re: Dimplex LXY15 Loxley Optiflame electric fire.

Hope to get back tomorrow to get a better look.
As she is in her late eighty’s and can hardly move let alone bend down to manually turn the switch off and on I will have to get the pcb up and running for her with the remote.
It sounds like the board has discreet components so the soldering iron can come out for a repair if possible. Anybody know if the replacement board is FP06008 for the LXY15 Loxley model?
Thanks for your help on what to look for chaps.

    Hi Seamy

No it is a standard unit with just a cylinder fan along the bottom and one 60 watt bulb holder each side of the fan. Just a bras effect casting at the font and around four years old. Price when new around the £400. Now selling for £350.

Receiver pcb could be part FP06008? Have not yet found the correct receiver pcb if that is the problem and assuming only one board for operation? Behind the front brass effect grill there is a thermostat dial and two rocker type switches in a plastic housing. One for power off and on RHS, and one to press for re set receiver if no remote hand unit used.

All guess work at the moment, will probably have to go back and take the Loxley back off to see what pcb’s are hidden away Seamy.

The information and diagrams were a great help to me trying to sort out the elderly gentleman who insists that he did not have to turn on the selector knob for the top oven to operate.
    Much appreciated.

    Thanks Dave

Elderly gent using this oven and the thick fat around the unit is pretty well stuck in so did not want to start trying to get it out if the far RHS knob just operated a thermostat only.
Weird thing is if the other knob beside it is turned on then all the different heating elements will heat up and glow nicely in the grill.
The standard oven element also will heat up on the bottom of the top oven. So all the elements are working in spite of the first position working or not and the red light above the far RHS knob only comes on when the selector knob is rotated clockwise?

Would have thought that if the far RHS knob was faulty then the red light would not come on and one of the heating systems in the top oven would fail? Have hunted around for a circuit diagram off the internet but so far no luck.

Will try to see if the thermostat has a switch unit without having to tyre lever the oven out of the fatty fitting, ugh.

Re: Zanussi Jetstream 1400 WJD1457W faulty

    Thanks Martin

Managed to contact the 90 year old lady’s daughter and found out that a water pipe had sprung a leak in the old cottage and run down the walls and probably into the washing machine a few days ago.

Wiped down most of the damp places and the bottom of the drum near the heating element. Placed megger back on washing machine and all looked ok after drying carefully with a hot air blower.

Spot on Martin slight shorts play havoc with the control board. Up and running again. Should have spoken to daughter first after the nice lady took me into her cupboard and gave me a sewing machine to sort out. Bless her.

    Thanks Bob

That’s a great help on a hot sunny day.
Will go very carefully tomorrow morning warming it up to get the cover off.
I try to stay away from fridge/freezers as the grief of the plastic and insulation snapping.

Surprised that the insulation is of know use in only 3 1/2 years? Would have thought that the polystyrene insulation would hold up when old fridge’s run for anything up to 20 years without failing?
The customer has had a go at taking off two screws at the bottom of the plastic panel but could not release the whole unit from the fridge?
As I hope to get there tomorrow and will try to source the part today has it got plastic clips down each side holding it in place or contact tape when they installed it Bob.
