    Re: App

recently we have been filling in job sheet with all details etc – get customer to sign – then take photo of job sheet , photo of serial and upload back to our own online database , great way to capture all the correct details and easy to do ..

i know this kinda defeats the paperless system is jobs sheet to phone via pdf etc , but its a good way to capture important data ..

you could also upload to photo bucket ,

so although this isnt a sign the screen system it is a way to get signature ?

the only issue i would have with calls coming down to phone is where to put them all and be able to view all so you can work out route etc ..

Re: dont just sit their googleling yourself – you will go bl

    no probs martin ,
i just want to make sure the guys on here get their business noticed by potential local customers

    and make the
no work , work dead posts a thing of the past

i wonder how many posters on the work dead thread have spent a couple of hours getting their business on google maps or should i say google + places now.

collectively we could potentially have a massive effect on who gets our local customer cash.

and of course when we all have a google plus account there is nothing stopping for arguments sake martin finding my business on google and 1+ it , nothing stopping me finding any ukw./wta members site on google and 1+ it.. collectively we could could 1+ each other
    ( steady martin ).

ps i think its time we should have a wta members marketing club where members can learn how to , and get help with lots of free marketing.

i know of 2-3 free listing sites that with a little tweaking will have your business on page 1 of google . RESULT = your business will have 3+ entries = MORE CUSTOMERS – also means you have knocked 3+ competitors of page 1

what else can i say – go forth and multiply my friends

Re: new software for service/stock/data management

it does sound really good my concern would be the time /staff to enter all the data ?, dont know about anyone else but it seems a lot of service providers are update hungry these days , our office staff are now spending more time updating the smallest amount of info onto service providers systems. ie (called customer today at 10.20 am left message on their answer machine re appointment). i know this doesnt take to long to do but if your doing this with 50 – 100 job per day it soon bites into someone normal duties , we have noticed that on somedays the staff run out of time and cant complete what they use to do.
i wouldn’t want to put anymore on their plate ie duplicating jobs onto another system , if it could be done easily and is able to communicate/update with service providers systems then it may be worth a look.

one of our service providers is testing an app at the moment, which will allow the engineer to communicate directly back to their system to order spares / close jobs from customer house so this may further complicate the situ. again they are looking for real time job history

i think the app based software will be what they will all go for , but again you will need a office based system that will be able to interface with mobile engineers using apps etc that will be able to communicate with service provider systems.

its all very complex with each service provider using their own systems. i a have a feeling they will never want to use someone else,s systems for a whole host of reasons ..

i will have a look at system at sept meet and see if its something that we could use ..

ps if anyone has got a system where we just insert chip into back of engineers head allowing upload/download – etc please let me know..

Re: new software for service/stock/data management

to me it looked a bit complicated when it was demonstrated at the meeting – maybe down to time constraints and examples shown at the time .

i guess we may be spoiled with the service providers systems we use , ie connect very easy to use and quick , samsung bit more complicated but still ok . both systems let you view diary – parts ordering – basically everything you really need to know to do your job , and most importantly invoice your client which is automatically done when you hit the complete button

the service providers own software systems are good but obviously we dont own them and cant put our own trade jobs onto them, also they dont cater for stock control etc.

the problem we have is we use upto 4 service provider systems and our own database for private/trade work . its not worth paying out a lot of money just to use for our trade work ,

and sounds like it would be complicated to transfer our service provider jobs onto another system – which the service providers dont want as they have probably spent millions on developing their systems ,

for us i think most of the systems that i have seen would create more work ..
