    Re: AEG l12710 w/d

    water off ?
    kinked fill ?
    dryer fill solenoid failure?
    cant drain, so wont fill?
element insulation resistance out of parameters…?

e10 is user display error, not a diagnostic error code iirc, so you need to access diagnostics to find out the service error code.

    pm waiting. report back soon

    oh and exam later 😉

    tried twice no answer 🙁

it might be worth hunting out manual

    i got:
    xou488
    xou489
    xou491

off gdha’s site tho if that helps, as they are the only red d/o they have listed.

although id be expecting it to be an obsolete part anyway – and if its avilable s/o it will be about 100 odd quid upwards…

yes the free 5yr warranty must have ended a couple of weeks ago they seem to change their offers quarterly, apologies for the misinformation!

it weould be worth speaking to d&g directly about a separate non-siemens affiliated warranty extention, because then theoretically you should be receivieng a discount via cutting out siemen’s referral fees 🙂

    Re: hotpoint wmf740

original spec was all in one dispenser and sols + ext for the 7kg machines.
for about £35 trade then hp replaced that part with an extended dispenser and no ext, specifically for 7kg machines at about £50 net.

however this part seems to now be obsolete again as i just ordered one for a 740 which was cheaper and came with the add-on ext piece. for £22 net…

not sure even merloni know what theyre up to tbh!

    Re: Bosch dishwasher not heating

is the dispenser opening? im assuming machine is draining ok too, otherwise it wouldnt be turning the arms

run it on the warmest of the middle programs (not rinse or hotter ones with a prewash) with the tab dispenser shut and free from obstruction (the slide type ones can suffer from teh disp seal coming free and/or spring pinging out and wedging it shut)

water should have heated up above room temp well within 30 mins, and the dispenser should have fired open. if its still shut is most likely to be the pcb, if its open, look towards ntc stat and element.

either way, not an easy diy fix unless your experienced with playing with bosch neff or siemens d/w, pcb clips can easily break, and theres a knack to getting inside the lower reaches of the machine, less hassle to pay an engineer tbh, and they can often save you a lot of money if it is the pcb, by getting it repaired, rather than replaced, which is expensive option.

spanner51 wrote:So if you are called to a small terraced house with minimal or no furniture, completely clear kitchen worktops, a very easy to find and unusual fault, a customer who leaves the room and doesn’t talk to you.

had one of those, if it wasnt for a 20 year old lec u/c larder id agree with you completely. went out because it had died, checked fuse, wasnt dud but was bad condition so replaced anyway, felt something seemed odd as rest of it was clean. anyway fridge didnt fire up, wasnt sure so was just honest and said my best suspicions were that the compressor had gone, regardless due to the age, something else might go wrong soon after, and also parts would invariably no longer be avaialable. asked her if she’d like us to get our refrigeration engineer out, which would be a £30 surcharge to the £50 call out, to confirm our suspicions or have the call out waived in return for a £160 indesit u/c fridge. she went for the indesit after a bit of deliberation but the cupboards were bare when we installed it, knew this because had cut the plug off and put a new one on, passing it thru adjacent cupboard, and it made me look in the others, and every u.c. cupbopard was empty. nothing on the worktops, nothing on the table. not even tablecloth or flowers. very odd. no washing up bowl or drying rack either.

any had a phone call few days later saying door wouldnt open. went back out to it found no fault. call next day saying under distance selling laws she would like a refund because she couldnt open door and because she had gone for it over the phone, was entitled to refund (she paid chq). another wierd thing was when we sold it to her, she was particularly insistant it wasnt chinese, it had to be british made – which we told her was impossible, best we could offer was european… and said that indesit was an italian company and we had told her it was turkish. i corrected her saying the fridge was made in turkey, and we hadnt lied to her, but she was correct that indesit was an italian company…

anyway we said regardless, we couldnt refund it until indesit had been out to it and found a fault, begrudgingly she agreed to us insisting on going out to it within 48 hrs, but on the day we were going out to it we got the cheque back having cover note saying it had been cancelled by the accountholder. odd. so we went there armed with teh cheque to find out. silly moo was only trying to open door with both hands in each recess, left and right.

it was so odd really cant work out if it was trading standards testing our patience, and “honest retailer charter” award thingy we had, or if she was for real, and just completely odd. either way we wasted about 3 man hours on the job, not really a good turn around on a fridge with £41 margin after tax…
