Re: hotpoint dwf 33 heat/burning smell

DWF33s have the sketchy bosch modules in them. Guaranteed to be cooked beyond repair if cust can smell it. Save yourself a trip and advise she contact hotpoint reffering bshs recall on dishwashers theyve built. Pcb is £66net at qtx, 101@connect, both special order, so if shes willing to spend 160 to wait for a module to maybe turn up (iirc hotpoint have made their stock obsolete) then go for it otherwise garner yourself a load of brownie points with her and tell her to get hpt involved wholl prob replace whole dw

just had a thought to check the pic, connect are saying its a “13548” which if you look at the pic of the rear suggests its a 55.13548.030 if you zoom in? I cant find the 030 but i founf a 010 with a 230*c rating and 6×77 stem, 670 capillary

Firstly please isolate the electricity to your cooker, by using the relevent switch to your cookers connection point. Then once you are confident the appliance is no longer live, disconnect the cooker from the mains wiring. Please do not attempt to undertake this repair without being absolutely sure the appliance is not receiving any electricity. If you are unsure, bite the bullet and call an engineer. /h&s over

There are two screws hidden behind front fascia panel. to get to it you need to remove knobs, and timer pins (if 5 button model) then slide the front fascia off sideways off its “hooks” after you have removed the screws from fascia panels underside.

One you have doen this it is useful to get someone else to unclip the 2 wiring connectors that power the plates as you can then work on the hobplate upside down with ease.

if the aquastop isnt pushed up in the base, check the side air chamber matrix, as im presuming you would have laid it on its back, so due to the crap design water can get sometimes get stuck in there and make it think its overfilled/do weird and wonderful things.

with these new format ones quite often if theres marble top the kitchen fitters with have a wooden insert above the dishwasher front edge, but none on the rear, this can lead to them rockign about when opening closing eventually popping the back part of the catch out of its housing. could easily be stopped if bosch put a cover plate but i guess they expect it to be butted up against work top. simple job of popping back in, advise an identical baton is pitted at rear to stop rocking and jobs a gooden.

just a thought have you checked the the knob shaft is actually actuating the potentiometer (program selector component) on the module? take facia off, pop out knob and stick a kebab stick in it and see if it then turns on. Had a tribendix a few years back fail on delivery because the black peg that linked the twn wasnt in there.

yeh nothing obvious at all, although i might pop back and give it a tap with a screwdriver butt and see if it heats up, at least then ill be more confident its that, but thatll be the icing on the cake for this job – owner before he rented it out screwed right thru the base tub of the polynox after trying to take the sump off to clear the pump, and overtightening the torx’s. cue lots of silicone full strip down and washers… 🙁

its what i was hoping wasnt the case, but if its purely just the module that turns evap fan on then thats all it can be. Are GE ones permanently on, or regulated by ntc readings? From Cold it wouldnt kick off, and neither from room temp. Sorry about lack of model details Its actually a de dietrich with a sticky label “cover kit” applied over the GE branding XD anyhoos, its a dru103xu1 (gcg21iemhfbb). Am also testing with door switch taped in, which makes no difference

yeah thats exactly whats been happening here, hpt parts obsolete, so they write off and replace appliance, rather than get a updated module from bosch, cynic in me wonders if bosch might be holding them to ransom over price of them?

spoke to cust today and she reckons spin wasnt an issue until we had looked at it. I cant see any way that changing the pump for identical part no’s could have caused it. In fact I think I smell a fishy odour now, when you mean diodes, do you mean that little black inverter box in the back ?

Re: Difference between Hotpoint WMUD 942 and Hotpoint WMD 94

Why not just EMW it? Refuse to guarantee your labour on any components you dont source yourself, tell them you can get their pcb refurbished for £60, and itll come with a 6mth guarantee. That will shut them up and let you get on with doing what theyve got you out to do for them! Grrr I get really irritated with customers who try to do your job for you, in the vain hope of then saving themselves an extra couple of quid.
