door interlocks for these are worth a shot,

beko interlock failures are almost as common as hotpoint ones so order one as a shot to nothing 🙂

Re: Gone with Bosche over Miele, have I made a good choice?

check the back of the machine.

Bosch tape their manuals to the back! must be german logic!

new bosch d/w are pretty expensive now.

While your down there it might be worth giving it a service and rep the main seal if its over 5yrs old as they have a tendancy to leak onto the circulation motor and killing bosch dw

Re: Moulinex mini oven – element needs replacing – worth it

tried a repair on a hometek.

    T.M.E.

by the time we’d managed to dismantle it and factored in the element price we ended up writing off the invesigatory work in return for buying a replacement.

Although it did take 20 mins to find the security screwdriver set :rolls:

    strewth snap over £50 too

for a bit of rubber. and LJ how are we sposed to make a margin on that srp either lol!

had a thought tho, some of the latest samsung washers have been given 5yr promo P&L warranties. and often theyve had 2 yr ones too so might be worth digging out that reciept as im not familiar with that actual model but might be worth a go at blagging a free call out 😛

Id also make sure ALL 4 bolts AND rubber gromits are out of the rear in line with manufacturers installation guidelines.

dont ask me why (i think its because they are shifted out as cheap take it away prices & diy fit them) but the basic bekos attract really poor installation as no advice on installing them is given with them at point of sale in the mulrtiples hence shortening the life of the machine hugely.

Any boxed & collected washer we sell always leaves the shop with the customers ears ringing about REMOVING ALL THE TRANSIT BOLTS 😀

Incidentally I read one man claim that he was shocked his beko lasted only 8 months because it had 2more bolts holding his drum on than his previous hotpoint which lasted 15 months on an online review of a 510!.

Re: hotpoint tdc60 drum wont turn

    1/ power off & unplug.

2/ philips screwdriver and undo (3 iirc) screws holding the lid on.

3/ look for a back rubber belt that should be around drum

4/ if missing its probbaly the belt thats caused the burning smell as the t/d drum has jammed but the motor spindle has kept spinning and generated enough heat to melt the rubber belt through

Jammed drums are usually caused by front roller supports wearing out, rear bearing spindles wearing through, or a sock etc between the drum and the front panel lip.

Either way if it is a belt and if your confident and capable then its not a ridiculously expensive job, just an afternoons work. would recommend assessing total damage first then buying what you need and replacing all worn running gear in one go, as its a lot less work and should work out cheaper than a new condenser dryer even though youve basically replaced all teh wearble bits 😀

Re: AEG Micromat Combi – Model MCC4060E

The spares for aeg int m/w are horrendous (due to the aeg mark up, as aeg act like a middle man on the parts) so it may be worth getting a very decent specialist repairer to take on the task who has access to the core components direct rather than a general repair engineer who might be a bit cheaper on the labour but can only get the aeg-packaged parts.

Just remember a repair will still often work out viable compared to the price of a new integrated like-for-like brand. But as with all electronics its very difficult to assess the level of wear thats been put through them – you can get new daewoos with built-in kits for about the £175+fitting mark which works out faily reasonable compared to a aeg price, but as with all built in equipment youd need to make sure you get the right dimensioned product, but yeah as most microwaves tend to have the same main generic core components, a lot does just depend on badge snobbery really.

Re: Having trouble finding a small cooker

ferraris are made with fiat parts, and aston martins have ford mondeo bits in them.

Its more down to the specificaition – Just cos its made in the same facotry doesnt mean:

A cheaper cooker is built to the same quality as a more expensive one and vice versa.

QC is down to the the employees and the companys directives. the cannons are now made in poland by skilled and well trained employees meaning the QC on Indesit cookers is as good as a cannon but the actual build quality of the appliance will be only as good as the materials used for that batch and the specification of the design of the appliance.

Cannons are built with thicker metals and better quality components hence they work better and last longer.

And lets face it in the cooker world a 50cm cooker is either made by hotpoint (indesit, h/p, cannon) zanussi (elux zanussi aeg and bendix) beko (beko leisure new world and belling) or a really poor quality independant factory (frigidaire, micromark etc)

Spoke to miele and their very helpful tech guy (muchos respect to him in case hes reading) suggested looking at the interlock as the connection often comes loose if you pull the fascia pcb out too far. my washers at the workshop atm so havent had the chance tp play but will try later today but totally didnt occur to me. and yes i know it should have done 😛

    simple things eh 😛
