ParticipantRe: Servis FF Model M0263W not cooling
I havent got a problem selling beko refrigeraion, fairly basic, and low end but id personally steer away from the frost free models though. Thing is a lot of the customers we get tend to put off by the beko badge
Our own previous freezer was a beko and saw out 10 years with no issues, and it wasnt a cfc-version either. I would check that you get a turkish built one tho, because a lot of refrigeration gets rebadged from far flung places if they get short of stock!

as for still selling servis, any company is entitled to clear stock, even if the brand has gone under – they have a right to clear their stock. however if the manufacturer goes bust like servis have done, your contract of sale is ultimately still with the retailer!
ok its 13 months old and out of manufacturers guarantee, but the retailer still has an obligation to sell goods of a reasonable quality under the sale of goods act. normally this is difficult to prove. but if they are still retailing the same model you have, even tho servis are bust then they have basically said “we still feel this product is of saleable quality” which means a repair could be covered by them. any worthwhile retailer will go out of there way to support you. and lets face it they might not want to replace the appliance immediately because they will take a massive hit on it. but they should support you in getting at least an initial call out for the appliance sorted!
bully them, threaten them with watch dog if needs be. especially if its john lewis (doubt its them tho, as currys were servis’ lapdogs!)

elux hinges generally £30 for a pair if not obsolete! – worth a go as P45 said tho – PNC/Prod no/ or PR No. for a more accurate quote. 9 or 11 digit code that will start with a 9XX XXX XXX (XX) usually located printed between the model number and serial code! hope that helps!

ParticipantRe: Electric free standing cooker
personally id avoid zanussi – imo over priced for what they are, and after the last one i had to oversee a repair of – dangerous too:
8 months old, installed by currys, and was on “special offer”
it was put in a tenanted property where the first 6monthly tennants never used the oven cos the cooker “smoked” badly and only ever used the hob anyway. new tenants complained about the smoking and constant burning of food so we came to look at it!
symptoms were that the element would not regulate when it got the the temperature set, turns out the main oven thermostat was actually rigged up to the top oven and the top oven thermostat was put in the main oven!
worst thing was that:
A: zanussi let these out onto the market, and didnt recall them – instead preferrign to sort the affected batch under warranty even though they were a fire risk! the theory in it was that the installer under testing would identify an affected one of the batch and do a swap calaiming the thermal cut out was faulty!
B: the other awful thing was that currys “trained” installation team didnt notice it under testing!!!! avoid a zkc5040!!!!
theres not a lot to separate the indesit from the hotpoints and the cannons, other than styling, colour choice, overal finish and higher spec – programmers, halogen hobs etc – the indesit is basic but under the skin has the same main “gut” parts – elements, regulators ceramic plates etc
belling & stoves are again, basically fancy finished & specced versions of new worlds, only difference is that selected stoves & belling models are now being manufactured in the uk again, if its a turkish built GDHA appliance you might as well save urself 80 quid and get a beko or leisure!
Thing is with the indesit, gdha and electrolux groups they work on a very similar basis to car manufacturers where they adopt a good better best approach to the brands under each parent companys umbrella:
skoda/seat: new world (gdha); indesit (merloni); and tricity-now obsolete/zanussi – (elux)
vw: belling (gdha); creda/hotpoint (merloni); electrolux (elux)
audi: stoves (gdha); cannon (merloni); aeg (elux)
Smegs are all style and no substance, built with the cheapest possible parts, and avoid delonghi and baumatic as their spares are extortionate! – £20 for a delonghi knob and £60 for a baumatic element! frigidaire cookers are terrible build quality! tbh on reflection there isnt actually a great deal of choice, which is probably why the indesit was voted a best buy!!!

ParticipantRe: buying new oven – please advise!
hotpoint sy51 (now only available in s/s i think) – its fan assisted which is what you asked for
doddle to repair, spares available for ages, and not particularly expensive if u know where to get them! Heats quickly for “fan assisted” and cooker is affordable too. and no unnecessary LCD rubbish to fail through heat-exposure!
alternatively go for a gorenje with a 5 year p&l warranty.
the siemens will suffer from the same common oven fault as everything else on the market – element failure! and siemens/bosch elements are not cheap!
Would steer away from whirlpool now too – just had to sell another fan element (oem) to a gent whos previous oem one lasted 8 months – on a 3 year old oven! It was 50 quids worth too, and whirlpool would only guarantee it for 3 months, unless it was fitted by one of their approved engineers, when it would be a year (+£90 labour/callout)!!!

ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZWF14070 washers in demo mode
For anyone with the same trouble: i had to order a copy of the service manual for the board fitted to this and similar models of the latest range of zanussi/tricitys, as we sold lots of these we felt it was a worthwhile investment
We initially traced fault to bunged sump (although pump was clear)
However seems the lastest zanussi boards have a memory chip that stores the last few “positions” of the appliance before something went wrong. I was close with it being stuck in demo mode, as we have had 2 new machines stuck in demo mode on install. However turns out this was stuck trying to continue the process it was last in. Cleared sump obstruction but was still stuck in “last position” mode, so accessed diagnostics on it, went through full diagnostic testing which threw up no new problems, and in the process also appears to reset the memory chip. works fine now. tested on 5 different programmes.
Im not allowed to say how to access or work their diagnostics, however if you are an owner of the lastest zanussi washers (ZWF 1*0*0 models) I would advise you make sure whoever is potentially going to undertake your repair has access to the diagnostics information before booking them. It seems old-skool human diagnostics will find and allow a fault to be fixed but not to “reset” the machine.

ParticipantRe: Bosch 1400 Exxcel WFO2865 – not spinning on wash cycle?
As I have already seen, speaking to nomadpaul is the best first step!
But before going too far on the ordering route, the grey spots you described sound slightly worrying, have they occurred in the past, and have they stopped now you have flushed the machine, and was the spin cycle programme test noticeably noisey/droney/rumbly? (with a normal load inside)
Im only asking this because its a common symptom of bearing wear, although you seem quite knowledgeable, it often goes unnoticed. If you havent already checked, check, it only takes 30 seconds – look for any noticeable play between the inner and outer drum, and if there is, bearings on their own is gonna be £50+ labour, and if you’re already in 2 minds between a new machine or repair, that would sway my decision towards a new machine. Should it be so far gone you need a new shaft its part of the spider & drum which is £150!!! But thats just a personal opinion, and I can get washers at trade price so i am biased!
If that is the case, but you want confirmation, if you give your local independant white goods shop’s engineer a call they will often write-off a call-out charge if the machine is uneconimical, providing you purchased a replacement machine from them. Would be worth asking penguin if they have that service on here too in case you were thinking of replacing it with an ISE10??

ParticipantRe: WhiteKnight 767c – drum won’t turn
The repair is gonna be about £140 – £170 depending on the exact drum type you have, which is new machine territory.
I seem to take out 1-2 white knights a month tho, so I can keep an eye out for one with a ok s/h drum if you would like?
