Spin speed is all a sales gimmick IMO! If I gave you two items of clothes, one spun at 1200, and one spun at 1600, the difference in dryness is hardly noticeable. The difference is probably a couple of minutes extra in a tumble dryer! I don’t think it’s worth the extra strain on the machine…

Goatboy wrote:If you ask engineers for their opinions, they will always pick the reliable choice 😉 We don’t care how it looks or washes, we care about if it works!

Remember this? IMO and IME, machines that spins faster than 1200 have problems, unless the manufactuer has a solid drum design, which can take the extra stress.

Example: Merloni made turd machines for years, with turd drums, that collapsed after 3-7years. Then they put a 1600 spin motor on some machines without strengthening the drum design. The results? Drums collasping in 2 years. And the collapsed drum, means and goosed washer!

So if the machine has a high speed motor, it needs a very solid drum design to go with it.

That’s correct! Well. if your struggling for depth, and you haver to have an AEG, so be it 😕

    Probably the washer pixies.

    Yeah… I’m just a swopper 🙁

Saying that, i impressed mysen a few weeks ago, when i split down a timer and unsplattered the splattered contacts 😀

That is fixing stuff! But I draw the line at repairing coils in dryer heaters.

Ps. I’ve got 4 Hpt T/Ls in the backyard, in a huge, cold, wet pile for spares (if anyone is desperate). Reckon I can find mysen a S/H brake-arm 😉

AEG are ok 🙂 They’re alot better than the run-of-the mill pish mentioned in my earlier post.

They used to be a German manufactuer, but are Italian now, and as such, the quality has slipped down a little 😕

I’d say the only manufactuer that could make a machine as good as a Siemens/Miele, would be someone like Asko (unless someone can name another good manufactuer). But I don’t think Asko will make an intergrated W/D.

I think Mr. P meant to end that message with…

“But CDA aren’t as good as Miele/Siemens!”

    😉 😛

Our first obligation is toward public safety! If you post dangerous pratices, they will be deleted, simple. I don’t see the conflict of interests, and your welcome to post again, just think safety first 😛

Or if there’s a layer of black carbon dust coating the inside of the machine, it could be the motor that has blown the PCB 😕

Speaking of T/Ls, how hard is it to get spares for them now?

If been trying for ages to find a price for a brake arm this morning!

I hate Merloni soooooo much!!! 🙁

    ?

The first thing I saw on that site, was a ‘5-star rating’ for an Indesit intergrated washer/dryer, which is the worst piece-of-crud machine on the market! 🙁

It’s a rubber pipe, pretty thick rubber, but it still can be punchered 😕

But, this is completely the wrong way to fix that problem, and I’d still recommend that you call an engineer.

    😀 Repairs@ 😀

You’ve got a good machine there, so I think you should let a professional fix that problem and service/check the rest of the machine at the same time.

Re: aeg oko-lavamat 72620 pumping problem

We can’t give you a ‘blow-by-blow’ describtion of how to strip down and check your machine. That’s dangerous and highly frowned upon 🙁

If your sure that the pump is working, then it probably is a blockage! It might even be blocked before the pump!

Hope this helps 😕 Otherwise call an engineer.

And if your looking yourself, unplug the machine first!

1400 is spinning too fast already 😯

1600 is just taking the micky! That will cause some serious drum problems during the machines life 🙁

lbarea wrote:Whilst I’m at it, can anyone tell me what brands I should definitely steer clear off?

    😆

    Indesit
    Ariston
    Hotpoint
    Hoover
    All the cheap stuff!

You get what you pay for, and looking at the models you’ve picked out already, your on the right lines 😀

Washer/dryers are notorious for poor reliability, so the Siemens/Miele is the best choice for trouble free washing.

Ps. If you ask engineers for their opinions, they will always pick the reliable choice 😉 We don’t care how it looks or washes, we care about if it works!

Smeg? Over-rated, IMHO. The gap in quality between the Siemens/Miele and the Smeg is a big one!

Don’t worry about the C for energy rating. That’s good for a washer/dryer 😉 If it fits, get it (IMHO).
