    😕 Err…. no!

It’s most likely a build-up of bacteria in your washing machine. This happens because of 40 degree washes, and detergents containing no bleaches.

Do some hotter washes (60 degree +) with no clothes in, and put in a little detergent in that contains a bleaching agent (Ariel powder).

If the problem persists, call an engineer.

    That’s old-fashioned practices! 🙁

I know, because we’re the same. A small company, with few over-heads; so we don’t need to charge alot for calls. But I’m finally convincing Goatboy senior that our work is worth something. What’s the point in working for nowt? We are professionals, doing a professional job.

Bite the bullet time! Don’t undervalue your own work (I’m sure Kenny has said this hundred’s of times before). Set a standard call-out charge. Just a small one at first if you want. Set a charge for condemnation notes, then tell the customer that if they buy a new machine, you’ll refund the charge towards the new appliance. You may lose a few customers, but only the tight-wads 8)

Re: Need Advice on replacement washing machine

Almost no new machine uses hot water!* Because recent research shows that bringing in hot water onto a stain, will just fuse the stain into the clothes.

All model-day washers use so little water, that they fill cold only, or use both feeds at the same time. Soon, all machines will be cold fill only!

I’d say stick with the Siemens  Especially if you can get a staff discount! I’ve seen those staff prices, and they’re lower that my buying price sometimes :eeek:

    * I think the American style Whirlpool Toploader doesn’t have a heater and has the option of filling just from the hot feed (but has no dryer, of course).

    Re: venting a tumble dryer

    Hmmmmmmmmm!!!! That’s a unique question. 🙂

The problem is, that it is steam that is in that pipe. I suspect that alot of the steam would just condense back to water in a pipe that long, and then there would be water gathering in the pipe 😕

I heard them mentioning their ‘efficienty testing’ 😕

What’s that? Send somebody out to sell a customer a new boiler and washing machine?

So it doesn’t go into fault mode?

If it’s not heating the water on wash, it should be flashing it’s light at you, and have the programmer knob rotating 😕

We can sell you any parts that you need, but first we need a correct diagnosic of the problem.

You don’t want to be buying spares that you don’t need 😕

Yes, there’s a knack to them!

The power is off, of course 🙄

See the little round button on the face of the controls knobs? Push that in, and turn the knob face backwards gentlely.

It’s very easy to snap the ‘cam’ in this situation, and I would sugguest using Repairs@ to find a professional.

    Re: Dyson Hoovers (vac spares)

We can provide a motor, no problem 😀 They’re around £30

Model number and colour please? ie. DC07 Purple and silver

It sounds silly, but the model number you’ve provided is too complicated.

A number off the motor would help too? ie. YDK…

There a recent thread by Martin, with pictures too!

But I wanted to make sure that safe working practices are carried out before I told someone to play with the terminal block 🙁

    FGS… UNPLUG THE MACHINE FIRST!
