    Re: comet

Surely alarm bells must be ringing with any company that uses comet to run websites and supply goods, i saw on this thread that samsung and LG are not supplying them, between them they have 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the brown goods TV market !.

    Re: comet

Thing is John Clare did well with Dixons back in the 90s / 00s when there was no or less internet, and no fierce competition from supermarkets, and margins were higher on sales, its a tough job to try and turn comet around when everyone else in electrical retailing is struggling. Scottish Power pulled out of retail in 2001 got rid of all their service 6 months before to try and cost cut, sold it all on to Powerhouse who outsourced all their service and deliverys, i think they closed or went bust in 2005 when the economy was booming !. Comet has a tough road ahead.

    Re: GBDAR

they were doing quite a bit in 2007 i think it was Servis, Beko & Teka, may be worth contacting Beko as they use independent agents, as do Amica & Daewoo. Regards Geoff

    Re: GBDAR

The Teka work that GBDAR were doing, went back to Teka who had their own agents, Teka stopped their own service / agents it went to repaircare in 2009. Not sure with Servis, we and many others never got paid by GBDAR when Servis went under in 2008 i think GBDAR stopped trading a few days after Servis went.

    Re: never been so quiet

Dead here too, just a trickle of chargeable and warranty work, seems loads of hassle though, customers generally being difficult about stuff and awkward, wanting FREE or just advice all the time, guess im on a downer today lost sales of a few appliances to the internet, im trying to keep positive but to me the trade is going same way as brown good repairs NO MONEY IN IT !.

When i have opened the front of an Amica washer and removed the broken weights from the bottom i had a customer ask … is that not just the transit blocks ?. Err no !!

Re: Some worrying remarks made about Amica

We are service agents for amica, we also sell the products at low volumes, i have never had any problems with the dishwashers or freestanding ovens, admittedly we have had a few issues with the AWCT machines with the front weights breaking off, the newer machines dont have the same design and so far i have not had many problems, the service back up is very good, parts are sent out quickly and i have never had any late payments for the warranty work i have carried out. Like i said i am speaking as i find we only do low volumes of sales and warranty repairs but i have no problem at all with amica.
