Re: British Gas To Drop Appliance Servicing?

as a bg engineer 😳 I really feel that the appliance repair side will be sold off next year. The management are targeting the electrical home improvement side, this has a huge growth market for B.G and they are activley recruiting electricians .
We engineers are being pushed for productivity being told you must do 10 jobs a day minimum (even though you are doing 200 miles plus a day ) the last time this happened to me was when I worked at whirlpool and we were told to make ourselves look busy……we were then sold off to some poor unsuspecting person
upshot is B.G cannot carry on as it is engineers are at breaking point hence a lot of engineers are leaving

tbh the easiest way is to take the cabinet off 2 screws on the fascia that then lifts up. Remove the plug for the door switch then there is 2 metal clips that hold the cabinet on. Remove those and the cabinet pulls away. Then its just a case of removing the pump with the 2 clips and then taking the motor off again with 2 clips .The drive fits between the motor and the gearbox. YOu will prob find the plastic teath have broken off on the old one

Re: Supply Point Earth Loop Impedance Testing

Point in case, yesterday I discovered a whole series of sockets in a kitchen with no earth, a martindale may not do this, a resistance check with a basic megger may not have shown this either
I too had this yesterday 4 sockets in the kitchen no earth been like that for a year martindale did not show up the fault

I do an eli check on every job only takes a miute to do and it gives you complete piece of mind when you walk away from the job that you have left the appliance safe and I can sleep at night

It gets recallibrated every 12 months along with all our other test equipment. tbh its a very good bit of kit but is probably over the top yuo will be amazed how many appliances that aernt earthed out there and if you are the last person to work on the appliance you would be liable if if you dont point out the dangers to the customer

the module is a printed circuit board,it is situated behind the front panel on the right hand side.If you take the module of have a look for burn marks on the solder joint near the black relay power off of course

try checking the drain pump they were notorious for leaking through the shaft seal unplug before investigating
