    Madrat,

An old Dyson would be good with the motor removed, very light weight then! The plastic casing and other bits and bobs weigh hardly anything!

    Re: Which Vacuum Cleaner?

    Hi GandH1,

I know what you mean. They give you a full flight stair extension hose now with the X4, this reduces the machine falling over. The short wandhose is good for cleaning edges etc, where you would have one hand on the cleaner. For other jobs the extension hose takes the strain. You don’t get it with the commercial models so I bought a couple. 😉

Having said that if you pull a Dyson too hard (especially the light ones) they fall over too, no vacuum is infalliable! 😛

    Hi Dusty321,

I have a 15 year old (or so) Bosch WFF2000, and it is excellent. I bought it reconditioned and haven’t looked back since. It washes and rinses perfectly well indeed. Plenty parts available also so I can keep it going for some years yet.

    Its built like a tank!

The only other thing I can say it is the best washing machine by far that I’ve ever had. 8)

    Re: Which Vacuum Cleaner?

I’m with Ken on this one…………

Sebo everytime, they clean better than Kirby and are alot cheaper, I’m a carpet cleaner and they are the only vacuum cleaners I recommend, got commercial Sebos myself.

We only go through abot 15 bags per year in our house, possibly less.

The K3 that Ken has is nothing short of excellent, and the power head gives it upright performance on carpet in removing hair and grit.

    Yes everything!! 8)

I’m just old fashioned thats all, 60 works for me, and my clothing isn’t ruined either. My Avatar should tell you how old fashioned I am, Pink Floyd – Dark Side Of The Moon! Also like The Moody Blues!

Thank you Don and Martin for your responses,

    Re: Maintainence washes.

    Thanks Don,

So from what I gather I do not need to do a maintainence wash as often as monthly as I only wash at 60 or above. And always use bleach containing powder. The article says maintainence washing should be done at a minimum of 60, but 90/95 is better, so as I always wash at 60, doing this less frequently should be OK?

If I’m right in thinking (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), every 3-4 months should be fine?

We do my Mums Siltal more often as she washes at 40/50 so bacteria gets more chance to breed!

Thank you for your help Don, 😀

PS. What about Persil Bio Vs Ariel Bio?

Re: Are Kirby`s worth the money

Kirbys do not clean half as well as Sebo Automatic X upright cleaners. Sebos are a lot cheaper and remove embedded grit from the carpet and there by extending its life considerably. Also shift pet hair with ease!! 🙂

These are the only vacs I recommend for carpets, and I am a carpet cleaner and have tested and tried the lot, got commercial Sebos for my own house. 😉

Can’t help passion!! 😉 Nothing personal Lordhelpus, we just are this way, you just raise subjects we like very much!!! 😛

Excellent choice on your Sebo, do let us know what model it is and how good you find it to be, it has a carpet cleaners recommendation, you can’t get nowt better! 🙂

In most cases commercial have twice the components ( 2 motors etc ) in them so i cannot see the point in commercial in a household, unless you live in a mansion.

Like I said I also do not recommend commercial machines for domestic use, not for your reason but because they are too harsh for certain carpet types, eg. Berber.

The reason we have commercial machines is pretty simple, 1. I have access to buy them fairly cheaply, 2. We have asthma and allergy sufferers and 3. They clean better than anything else, and extend carpet life considerably (on the right carpet type of course, which we have).

Re: Sebo vacs are they any good?

    LJ Domestics,

The Henry is a COMMERCIAL VAC. They are just also sold on the domestic market, they use all the SAME parts as Numatics commercial range.

I do not think you understand the Automatic X range from Sebo are DOMESTIC, the ones that stick out on the left hand side are COMMERCIAL, These are not for houses, too harsh for certain domestic carpets.

As regards selling a customer a Dyson Dc03 over a Sebo shame on you Dysons shorten the life of a carpet by NOT removing embedded grit properly and do not clean allergens as they say. And Orecks do not perform as the sales crap tell you they do either. Sebos are the ONLY vac to clean a carpet properly, there is no other make that can do this and I’ve tried the lot!

Its interesting to know you sell the damn things and obviously have no knowledge of your products, you would not be asking this sort of thing if you did, the answer to your original statement is in my first reply to you. :rolls:

    Hope you understand this…….

    Oliver.

I am a carpet cleaner and do know my facts. :rolls:

Re: Sebo vacs are they any good?

    LJDomestics,

Sebo do a domestic and commercial range, yes the commercial ones are heavier, they are twin motored, and I do NOT reccommend using the commercial ones domestically.

The K3 that Ken has is part of the domestic range, and is an excellent machine, the “X” range of uprights are also domestic, the BS36 and BS 46 are commercial. The JohnsonDiversey uprights are made by Sebo even though their brand name appears no where on them!

I don’t know who mentioned semi-commercial? but it ain’t true. The domestic uprights and cylinders are NOT over the top for domestic use they just perform how a vac should, just because everyone has got used to the sh1t performance of Dysons and other cheap crap does not make Sebo OTT! :rolls:

    HTH,

    Oliver.
