ModeratorRe: Hotpoint TDC30S Tumble Dryer no heat
If you don’t have proper electrical test equipment and know how to use them then it is utterly pointless just throwing parts at any machine without first testing them.
There is a front thermostat which can cause no heat, a faulty control timer could also be the cause.
A failing motor capacitor can also lead to early failure of the safety thermostat.
Might be time to make that call. 😉

Can’t help with LG faults but was a little puzzled about someone who recently posted about testing a machine with earth disconnected, apparently ‘you knew what you where doing’ and yet you have never heard of induction motors, stators or rotors ❓ ❓

Most appliance engineers would consider the interlock a very simple device. They would also know with years of experience that interlock faults often lead to blown modules.
That’s why they would change the door lock ASAP before forcing anything given the very low cost of one.:(

If it has that AKO number on it then you have just got very lucky indeed. 8)

There is only one heater in the machine.
Three are seven different, non interchangeable timers listed for the 7800 model range and the AKO numbers on the side are not given in the manual. Unless it is in a box with 1800120 on it, or your timer has the same AKO number on it then the chances are it will not work.
If the terminal is a bad as you suggest then knowing the internal connections of the timer will be of little use, however the heater is switched via 4 & 4b
Apart from the timer motor or the timer drive cams failing the heater contacts burning out was the only other reason we ever changed these timers, and that wasn’t often.

Was able to ‘contrast and compare’ today. 🙂
The load ratings of both switches are identical.
The metal arm is at a slightly different angle but a little bending would soon sort that.
The only real difference is the position of the three terminals, the NO/NC terminals are wider apart on the C000955596.
Some of the earlier models did have a moulded plug to fit the wiring to the switch so that would mean fitting new amp tags at the worst.

Had to dig out my old ‘hard copy’ of the manual from 1995. 😯
The original part number is 1800120, might help in finding one, although I know that EMW don’t do dishwasher timers. It doesn’t look as though QER do either. 🙁
A quick Google doesn’t throw anything up.

Sadly the control timer has been obsolete for several years now. 🙁

Given the difference in price a new door interlock would be the way forward.

Checking several old, hard copy manuals last night.
The only reason I suspect there may be a difference is due to the heater, the element was reduced from the 2.5 kw on the machines using the C00205873 microswitch.
The later models using the C00095596 switch had elements reduced to 2.3 kw.
Won’t know until I have both types to compare but it is always possible the load rating is different on the switches. ❓

Apart from the C00095596 also being out of stock there and virtually everywhere else can you show me a screen from Connect that says that part is suitable for a CTD00 ?
I don’t have a Connect account so can’t check myself.
There must be some reason why all spares web sites and all Hotpoint spares and tech info say that switch is not suitable for the CTD00. I have one on the way so can’t really comment further until I have them both in my hands. 🙂

These are the wiring diagrams for the CTD00 and the TCM models, the wiring is not ‘exactly’ the same. The wiring on the CTD00 range is different from ALL the later models from CTD40 onwards. If the replacement switch has only two connections then it shouldn’t really be fitted in place of an original 3 terminal switch.
Regardless, I do have one of the ‘correct’ parts if you still want it Alan.
