ModeratorRe: Really loud spinning noise
Like the majority of budget machines and even a few higher up the scale it has a totally sealed outer drum, nothing can be repaired only changed as a unit.
Always a possibility that something could snap off inside and puncture the drum which may then lead to a flood. It may be covered by a five parts warranty, you would only have to pay the labour charge to Indesit.
It hasn’t got long with us by the sounds of it. 🙁

ModeratorRe: Creda 37742 thermostat failure
And you are wrong to think these two stats control high/low heat.
The one with the orange (not pink) wires is the cycling thermostat, the one with the blue wires is the safety (one shot cut out) thermostat.
The high low heat is controlled by the high/low heat switch selecting one or both parts of the heating element.
It is likely that the stat that has crumbled is the cause of the problem though.

ModeratorRe: What condenser dryer would you advise?
ISE dryer is apparently making a loud noise. I have had to strip and clean the fan and condenser assembly several times over the years as well.
My 17 year old Hotpoint TL 61 reverses and is still running perfectly.

I do concur with that. 🙂

No such model number????
If it is an IS70C or IS70CS then it is subject to the fire safety recall, have you had the safety modifications done on this appliance?

Going to have a look at the ISE next week, hopefully I can drag it back from the dead. If not I will point her towards the Bosch. 🙂

Thanks Tim, still a uni directional tumble though, I have a few customers and one in particular that complains of larger loads of sheets rolling into a bundle unless she stops it half way through and redistributes the laundry?
A while back one of the trade members admitted that his own Bosch dryer did this on the odd occasional well.

Not common but it does happen on both the washers and dryers with Lcd screens.
Dryer should NOT be used until safety mods are carried out.

ModeratorRe: Tumble Dryer Energy Rating
For limited use then the White Knight is a good choice, UK made, spares readily available. If you have room though I would go for the full size White Knight vented dryer. Within your budget and better at handling sheets and towels.
The energy savings will be minimal given the amount of use you say you will give it and would take a long time to even out if you bought a more expensive dryer.
If you do use it as you state then make sure you drain out the vent hose after use, it will fill with condensation in very cold weather in a porch.

The control panel lcd screen module does fail on its own, around £57.00 though. 🙁
Have you had all the fire safety modifications done on this dryer?
If not then you should do ASAP.

ModeratorRe: Bosch D/W detergent lid seal?
Thanks Martin, wasn’t sure if it was stuck to the lid or the dispenser.

Possibly a fractured drum support spider, often caused by prolonged use of liquid detergents and constant low temperature washes.
