Sounds like it has gone through the rear bearing shaft. Complete kit to repair is a 1703080. not an easy one. These machines with ultra tight ‘stretchy belts’ are prone to this fault. 😥

    Moved to Parts Enquiries, 😉

Its more than likely a Zanussi with a fancy ( overpriced ) De Dietrich badge on it.

Can you give us the full details from the rating plate, the Product or PNC number if possible. Also is it the left or right hinge looking from the front?

Yep fully kosher, clips like that one have been shown on the local news for ages now. The signs are very clear and the number of pedestrian accidents in this busy area have been reduced by over 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. There have been several concerns raised about the possibility of serious injury. It would be interesting to see if anyone who suffered tried to make a claim. To be honest, they are breaking the law in the first place and as most of them are tailgating the bus or other authorised vehicles they should not be going at a speed that would cause serious injury if seat belts are worn.
IMHO it serves the arrogant, selfish b*****ds right. Anyone who like most of us, drives for a living will see this type of thoughtless, damn you all, outa my way driving all the time. Only this morning a young lady in a small Honda dived right in front of me coming of the motorway causing me to brake very hard to avoid rear ending her . 👿

Hi Don, ( not long to go now eh 😉 )

I don’t think that she would consider that as an option, it is a very small kitchen to start with. I will have to go and have a look at the type of units she has in and see if there is a possibilty of ‘tweaking’ the sides.

B****r, that means that unless she has her kitchen altered, which will not be an option she is limited to what she can get in there. 😥

Are there any 23 inch (58.5cm) wide machines on the market? Thoguht they were all 60cm now.

I think it is about time that the ukthesis nonsense thread was locked. I may be wrong but seeing just how far he can go take us all along suggests he is doing it for a ‘thesis’, perhaps just to satisfy some strange needs or perhaps he could be ‘the engineer’ back for another trolling session.

I have no problems with the text content, short & to the point. The only problem is, you can’t read it. The background picture could have been cut off to leave a small clear space at the bottom to make the text readable. Just check out the other adds on that page, almost all legible with the exeption of one other that is also using reddish text on a dark background.

Check the pump filter, bottom right hand corner at the front. Put a few towels on the floor before you unscrew it. You may have to remove a kickstrip or lower front panel depending on how it has been installed.

Move North, I have never seen a hole in any of this type of machine in any of its many guises. Nice soft water, don’t need salt. 8)

The advertisement was in the Sunday Telegraph web directory today. I know it may be a little late for this three edition slot but more care needs to be taken with the text size, colour and background to allow for the size reduction in the printed version. The top set of red text is not to bad as it is highlighted in white but the lower red text, built to last, designed to repair, Guaranteed to last for five years. is virtually unreadable when reduced to fit on a page with 23 other adverts.

Well no ‘we’ don’t actually, even after almost 40 years in the trade, I will carefully note down or mark any wiring connections I remove, even if the are only 3 or 4 of them. 8)

The timers on these machines are not that unreliable but do occasionally fail. The replacement timer is part number 1702508. Around £23 + vat. Most of these have been superceded by a timer from a different manufacturer and almost always come with instructions for the connections to the new timer. That could be your best course of action along with replacing the stats. I have not seen a timer cause this fault, it is normally the relay.

    Re: Zanussi DE 6854 Problem

Well you can’t say you haven’t been warned. The only way to effect a proper repair to this would be to fit a new relay, or replace the PCB with a new one. The old relay can suffer from internal damage to the contacts and the resultant fire is not a pretty sight. The back of the PCB is very close to the plastic housing, if you look you may see signs of burning on it already from this initial failure.

I actually changed a door seal on one of these with the spring clamp last week, it was worse than doing the dreaded Zanussi one. My clothes pegs were not thick enough. Finished up using large wedges of thick, folded cardboard at various points around the seal to hold it whilst I forced it over the rest of it. It was a cold morning and my finger ends were very sore afterwards. 😥
