A very common fault, bits bone, plastic, sweetcorn, glass etc. If any of these get inside the drain pump it will stop it from working.

Can you still get them, I did one a couple of weeks ago but I have heard a rumour that all WM/WD outer drums are getting very thin on the ground.

What I really want to say in the article was,

Hotpoint where taken over by Indesit in 2001.
    The End. 😥 😥 😥

    Sorry, couldn’t resist that. 😆

Seriously though, bearings come in all shapes and sizes, as do extractors.

Have you any particular models of machine in mind?

    Re: Leaking Candy Washer

I have seen the soap inlet hose on the Hoover version of these machines get clogged up under the soap drawer. you would need to remove the lid to check this, not much room in there, find the pipe and squeeze it.

Please remove the mains plug before you open the patient up.

Does it leak on the first wash even if there is no detergent in the drawer?

If so then I would try turning the taps down a little further, until you hear a steady flow rather than a gushing sound, if you have a combi boiler they often cause leaks from the drawer due to high water pressure.

    Re: British Gas Homecare

    More British Gas incompetence. 😈

Went to a customer last week, machine was BER. I offered to disconnect the old machine so that it would be ready to uplift. On removing the cold hose I found that the tap was faulty, even though the blue plastic bit was missing, when I turned it off with pliers it was still coming out at full bore.

I advised her to get a plumber to attend to the tap before she got her new machine and had to leave the old one connected. She said “fine, I have a British Gas plumbing maintenance contract, I will give them a ring.” :rolls:

She rings me today to say that the BG bod that called was quite rude, kept telling her that she did not need a tap on the washer fill hose, it can always be turned off at the mains. He kept telling her this several times as if she was stupid then left without replacing the cold tap.
It is an easily accessible tap with a compression fitting. It would have taken him all of five minutes to change the damned thing. 😥

I am going tomorrow to install her new machine ( no ISE she wanted a W/D 😥 ) . I will then hight-light the instructions recommending that you turn off the taps when not in use. ( I know hardly any one does 😉 ) then advise her to contact BG and insist they do their job correctly.

You used a small 50cc motorcycle to clear up the water. 😛 😆

Have you removed and cleaned the soap dispenser drawer, including the insides of the machine compartment, is your incoming water supply pressure quite high, if it is try to reduce the pressure by turning the taps to the machine down a little. Sometimes giving the machine a very slight backward tilt by adjusting the front feet is all that is needed.

Not really much to ‘look at’ on a thermostat. Part number is 6224366, around £45 + Vat .

Have a quick look at the motor plug and heater terminals the next time you see a recent Indesit. Had a call to a similar machine yesterday, I couldn’t believe just how flimsy the latest motor plug and especially the heater terminal connections are. 😥 This one had the sealed drum, ill fitting heater had leaked onto motor plug and appears to have goosed the control module, machine 13 months old. 😥

    Re: creda lower oven fault

Full model number would help, ( 49711 by any chance ) sounds like a faulty oven stat, door switch can also fail under load.

Please isolate from mains if you intend to have a look. Stats for oven are fairly expensive on this machine.
