But would that account for no fill, no motor action and the dryer fan motor running in a spin only cycle?

The only time I did have a dryer motor running like this, the machine had a gunged up pressure hose but these are clear, even tried the machine with the hoses off to be sure.

Unfortunately there is no motor action whatsoever, even advancing the dial manually through the various steps. The only time I can get any fill is when turning it manually through the rinses but it is literally just a split second burst. Timer knob appears to be sound. 😕

May have to be a tedious trawl through the wiring. 😥 Oh how I long for the return of Hotpoint style linear diagrams. 🙂

Loose concrete balance weights are very common on these machines, can lead to needing a drum replacement if not attended to, if the drum is quiet when you turn it by hand and there are no signs of rust marks at the back then loose weights are the first thing to check. One is on top of the drum, the other on the lower front of the outer drum. Please remove the plug if you intend to go further or check the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

Hi Martin, thanks for that info. One problem I have as a sole trader is generating large enough orders to make using more than a couple of suppliers a viable option.

Do Maddocks have a minimum order the same as Masterpart?

Thye oldest machine (I can remember) that I worked on was one of th eold Zanussi’s which were cloned under Hotpoint. But then I’m just a young whipper snapper.

    K.

That was a bit of a nightmare at the time. The Hotpoint machines on sale then (early 70’s) where either the 1830 ( an all white version of the 1100 rpm spin 1600) or the 750/800 rpm spin 1850 range. The Hotpoint badged Zanussi machines where the 1826 & 1823, the former had a spin speed of 560 rpm and the latter an earth shattering 370 rpm. 😥 You can imagine the amount of grief we got from customers who thought they had bought a British made Hotpoint. The complaints of poor spin far outweighed todays moaning about extended wash times.

I still have many of those machines in good order on my patch. Did brushes in a one last week, almost 28 years old and still in sound order.

Don’t keep it to yourself, remember, a problem shared is a problem halved, it can also lead to more info for all the forum trade members.
