    Re: Cricket, lovely cricket.

I like my football as much as the next man but the only real game is this one. I have copied Don’s post from the World Cup thread, I know this is the OT forum but I think we should keep things in the correct place, unless it is to annoy gegsy then that is OK. 😀

    Don said.
“No Harmison, Jones, Anderson or Giles next week. I hope they go with Lewis, Plunkett, Hoggard and a spinner (who though)? If the selectors are struggling they could always give me a call

I would just like to mention S Mahmood from the Premiership County, Lancashire. He has just taken 4 for 24 as Lancashire are on the verge of thrashing Kent in three days, 🙂 just hope the selectors don’t go for Gary Keedy as their spinner, he is on fire ATM. Lancashire set for four wins on the trot in all competitions, and that is without big Fred and James Anderson.

As I have already intimated, this machine will not complete the wash cycle if the heater is faulty and the Economy button is not selected.
dougsta has already confirmed that the programme completes and the Economy is not selected. The thermostats are ultra reliable on these machines so I would discount those as a possible cause.

Just as a matter of interest dougsta which brand/type of detergent are you using?

To test your heater select 60° wash, ( no need to load it ) the machine should fill, then tumble for a minute or so. The timer should then advance one impulse and the motor should stop revolving and the timer motor will stop ( you will not hear the clicks but you may hear a faint buzzing noise). At this stage go to your electricity meter, depending on which type of meter you have you should see the disc rotating quickly or the red neon flashing at short intervals. It should heat up to 40° without tumbling.

    No problem 🙂 .

It is quite difficult to access the internal ducting to check for obstructions but you should be able to feel an inward coolish draft at the vent, bottom right and a warmer gentle flow of air from the vents all over the back panel.

It is not unknown for the internal fan that drives the cool air over the condensor to come loose, however this is nearly always accompanied by a loud squealing noise.

The pump and the sump hose that Goatboy mentioned can be accessed from behind the lower rear back panel, be sure to remove the mains plug and arm yourself with a washing up bowl or a roasting tray and a couple of towels.

The heater on this machine depends on a good through flow of water to activate. No heat could be caused by several faults, gunge build up, heater, flow switch, wiring, module etc, and to be honest this is not an easy DIY machine. Several of the repairs on this machine require removal of the whole of the inner tub. Would recommend you try the link in my sig to see if we have someone in your area who can help.

Re: Hotpoint Electronic 800 Delux 9526 – not cleaning

If the heater was faulty on this machine then it would not advance to the end of the cycle unless you have the economy button selected. This machine is more likely to overfill than underfill.

Have you changed detergent, what temperature are you washing on, do you use the economy button ?

Depending on the type of pump fitted it could be an intermittant pump failure. If the pump has a visible plastic fan then it should be OK if it is running, if it does not have a fan then this type of pump is prone to seizing with age and wear.

Re: Hotpoint WMA44 Tripping earth leakage

There is a strong possibility that you have already put your finger on the problem. The noise will almost certainly be the bearings, most definately not a DIY job. Most of us replace the whole drum or drum rear half. It could be a leak from the bearing seals that is causing the heater to trip. If you take the small lower back panel off and can see any rusty marks on the back of the drum or on the chassis then you have a bearing seal failure. The later seal has been modified and is much more reliable.

Give Hotpoint a ring, they will more than likely replace the whole drum assembly which will include a new heater element for labour only, much cheaper than you can buy the required parts for.

Hi Matthew123, posting the same question three times is more likely to irk people than get you a reply, duplicate posts deleted.

This dryer and its Hotpoint twin do have a history of stat failures. I have changed hundreds of them. In a few instances I have had to replace them several times on the same machine. I have quizzed the customers at great length, and gone through all the do’s & don’ts with them. Short of actually moving in with them to see how they are using the dryer there is little else I can do. 🙂

A failing capacitor can cause stat failure but it would generally be quite obvious if this was the case as the dryer would struggle to turn or fail to revolve at all. Internal blockages of the ducting could also be a factor.

I have changed them and not returned for years on others, I cannot put my finger on the exact reason why some fail quicker than others, it would seem that the tolerance of this particular thermostat is very low.

Re: fluff filter- Hotpoint washer dryer

There is no user accessible filter of any kind on this machine. No ‘fluff filter’ whatsoever. There is a coin trap in the sump hose that gets blocked on occasions but you have to remove the back and take of hoses to get at it.
With the mains plug removed of course.

It may be time to get an engineer in to check this machine out, there is another stat, hidden away in the door surround. Also you did not mention checking the new stats for continuity after the dryer failed to heat the last time you used it..

You changed your last post whilst I wasn’t looking, 🙂

I was just about to take you at your word and mention the cracking start that Lancashire have made this season. 😀

Not sure about the rule changes, I have heard all sorts of tales but nothing concrete regarding the quota of home grown players that teams must have.

This model did originally have H & C fill, pretty certain that the recent ones are cold fill only.

The green light should only come on when you press the start button, not when you first turn the knob to your selected programme. If the stats have failed again then the light should not come on at all. The black gunge in the small cover is the rear plastic bearing wearing away, this has recently been changed to a phospor bronze bush.

    Re: Whirlpool AWZ541/3 stats

These stats are not the common ‘square’ ones that are screw mounted onto the element, they are round ones that are clipped onto the end of the element, right next to the element terminals. Machine is only 2 years old according to customer.

I carry a couple of pairs of TOC36 kits but they are completely different.

Having said that, the ones in the shop look like the correct ones. 😀
