ModeratorRe: One to keep an eye on.
Keep an eye out for any posts by ‘silvercody’, he/she has just sent me a PM with the following message.
‘hi,just wondering if u knew of a electrical device to test an washing machine to see if it powers up with out pluging it in a power point…eg when theres no power around and u need to see if it works …thanks’
Cannot find any posts as yet but I hope my reply will prevent them from doing themselves serious harm. 🙁

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint TDC30 – Intermittent drying
This is often caused by fluff and gunge build up in the float chamber, to be honest this is not really a DIY fix, it is a very difficult part to access and is best left to an expert, in most cases you will not need any parts so it should not be to expensive. Click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

It is essential that this machine is as near perfectly level as can be acheived.

ModeratorRe: Hoover A3954 on off switch
Simon, have you actually been to this machine, the on/off switch is part of 6 gang switch assy. Original part No: 676921 GIAS number 09036286. May be heading for obsolete listing 😥
Jim.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint 6240W
I have three or four of these on my patch, some Hotpoint and some Creda, one word of warning, if and when you do repair this machine be very careful with the hoses, when pushing back into position, the fill/drain hoses can become trapped and damaged very easily due to their position, low on the machine.

Bone dry utility room in modern house, will bear your suggestions in mind though, going back tomorrow morning.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint aquarius dwf50p manual
No logical reason why it is not listed, not obsolete as it is only a few years old, this is actually an Indesit under the skin. If you click on this link http://www.theservicecentre.co.uk/macro … =H&prod=DW Which you may have looked at already, then scroll to the bottom and select ‘not listed’ that will take to to a page on which you can enter your details together with the model number and you should get what you need. Or do as P45 suggests and give them a ring.

ModeratorRe: UK Whitegoods Meeting – Feb 06
Have to admit to sneaking of to bed early, 11.00 PM last night but I had followed two pints of lager with a full bottle of Oz Shiraz, 😳 also I wanted to watch Wallace & Gromit’s ‘Curse of the WereRabbit’ on the PPV channel . It was brilliant, even though I fell asleep half way through and watched the end this morning. 🙂
Word of advice Ken, invest in some dark shades, your eyes this morning were a picture, and not a pretty one. 😆iadom

Please let us know of the final outcome on this, it all helps towards the knowledge base. 😉
I would be looking at the pressure switch before the module though.

The out-of-true drum also took out the heater which I have replaced. Despite this. the machine still doesn’t wait on Program C waiting for the water to get up to 95C, it just ploughs on regardless. Does the thermistor on the heater element do all the temperature sensing as I hadn’t noticed any other thermostat. If so, what is the most likely cause of it not bothering with the temperature. The old thermister appears to have been behaving correctly i.e. dropping from about 15K down to 2K or so.
The thermistor is the only temperature control in this machine, if all of your wiring is intact, then the control unit itself could be faulty, even if the timer is fine, it will however advance to the rinse & spin programmes if it does not sense a rise in temperature after a set period of time so heater wiring could be faulty if new heater is OK.
A simple and safe way to check if the heater is in fact working is to set the machine on and after 3 or 4 minutes check your electricity meter, the old style meter will have the disc spinning rapidly, the later type will have the red neon indicator flashing quickly.

ModeratorRe: indesit W103K uk bearings?
Current list price of complete drum assy is £90.00 + vat. It has come down in price but still hardly worth doing on one of these. 😥

I’ll second that. Many thanks to all concerned for a very enjoyable, informative and instructive weekend. Shame about the lack of a ‘Full English’ 🙂 Was it one of our lot that set of the fire alarm at 1.24 this morning. ❓

ModeratorRe: Ind. WD10UK fast reverse tumble – normal?
Fast wash action is quite normal and common on most newer machines, my WMA63 does it at regular intervals during a wash, I even think some of the old Hoover New Wave/Softwave did this as well. The first time I saw it I thought I had a problem as well. 😳
