ModeratorRe: Hotpoints new Parts policy
As I recall from my days at Hotpoint, many moons ago we where told that the ‘parts available for ten years after last manufacture’ was part of the AMDEA code of practice that Hotpoint and most other manufacturers agreed to at the time.

Looking here I can see no mention of it now, 😥 when was it dropped?

On this machine 95° and 60° washes are hot fill only, so if you turn the hot water off the buzzing noise is the hot valve trying to fill, it is working correctly, all other fills are mixed.
If it fills hot or mixed for the wash and fills cold only on the rinse then your valves are perfectly OK.
Have you checked the brushes ❓ ❓

I agree with Mike, it does sound like motor brushes, please unplug if you intend to have a look. As the machine has caused a trip to go, I would suggest that you do not keep trying the machine until you have checked the brushes, you can do further damage if you do.

What happens if you set the machine to spin, or rinse & spin? I have never changed a thermostat on this model and if the heater was faulty it would not continue the programme unless you have the ecnomy button selected.

Thermistor located on the inner door panel adjacent to the dispenser, safety stat integral to heater, appears to be rated at 78°

ModeratorRe: Bosch WFC2466
Just to put this to bed, tried new doorlock without success, checked module for any obvious signs of damage but found none. As this machine is a slimline and very thin on the ground, and as I could not be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain the module was faulty without the official test software I decided it was not worth the risk ordering a £101 inc vat module. I advised the customer to contact Bosch and advise me of the outcome. She has just phoned to confirm that the module was indeed faulty. The good news is that due to the machine being just over 2 years old, Bosch are going to fit the part for labour only. Bad news is it has to be ordered from Germany and ETA is around 18th Feb.
Thanks to Gegsy for his help in the background.

They have been using that pump for several months now, I think I mentioned it on here at the time I first saw one early last year. The one with an awful plastic pulley. I have had problems getting the hoses to seal and have had to open and apply Debhor adhesive to one that leaked badly on installation. 😥 The non gen version of this pump has always been very poor compared to the original, with a very high failure rate.
So far not aware of any other parts being substituted.

Have used iespell and CrapCleaner ( unfortunate name 😥 ) for a couple of years. The former did not work to well with forums that used a WYSIWYG format but it now works fine on such forums, you do need a spellchecker such as the one incorporated in MS Office on your system for it to work though. CrapCleaner can dig really deep and even remove DBX files, so if you visit ‘naughty’ sites and want to cover your tracks from all but the most extreme data recovery experts then it will do the job. like all tools that effect the registry it needs to be used with caution.
One of the best utilities to use if your system is crawling along or crashing is hijackthis, it will scan your system for all sorts of nasties that can slow it down. It will produce a log file which you can then copy and paste to several forums ( I know two very good ones) who have experts who can decipher the results and tell you how to remove any problems.

To be honest, the number of replies I have had when e-mailing large companies can be counted on the fingers of one foot. 😥
