When I finally gave the death sentence to a 35 year old Hotpoint 1504 a short time ago, the customer was rather put out because I didn’t immediately remember calling in the past, then she produced my last invoice dated 1982. 😀

ModeratorRe: In sink erator.
The switch on this is as I described, under that small square metal cover, on the 78 model. It seems to be operated by the Plug/handle device being turned left or right to lock but it appears to be jammed so it operates with the plug removed. No switches or pipes coming from sink.

So my conclusion is the fact you are using a 240volt 50Hz pump on a 240volt 60Hz supply and little magnet pump won’t like that extra 10 cycles and its overall power potential therefore will be radically affected 🙁
But if so, how did the original pump work, it sounds as though it has done so until recently,it would have been the same as the replacement if he purchased it in the UK?

Main bearings shot.
Is it worth trying to fix this poly drum bearing, what is the success rate at removing the bearings from the rear drum half etc.Not too bad to be honest, normally just a bearing kit required and about 2 hours of your time 🙂
Is there a complete bearing kit available or do I need to order separately, also is it advisable to order the tub gasket, I can see it on TDS but cannot see a part number for item 130?iadom
ModeratorRe: Hotpoint FD61 Dishwasher
Are you sure it was the drain pump and not the circulation pump/motor.
The drain pump can be changed without removing the inner tub, Not a major strip down for an experienced engineer, 20 to 30 minutes at the most.iadom

Strongly suspect the control unit, any observations on this and if the control unit is U/S how much?It sounds like it 481231018445 at £81.41 ex VAT list. Check the carbons though as this can send the control unit in to error 😉
Dave.
Would the carbons cause it to stick even when the start button was depressed for 20 or 30 seconds, it should reset after holding down for 5 seconds?iadom

It’s not, it’s worse, it’s a Haier 😥 😥Dave.
The base plate and float is almost identical to the latest Hotpoint/ Indesit dishwasher, the Plaset pump and the main motor are the same and are in identical positions, the filter assy is the same although the heater is in the tub and not in that stupid tube, are they using Indesit parts in the Haier or is the latest Hotpoint/Indesit more Haier than we realise, is this a still a Haier ?
I may have to do a Monty Python on this Necht and become one of the Knights who say “Nicht” 😆iadom
