ModeratorRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
Lawrence wrote:Was the source of the fire at the back Tim or through the filter at the front ,the reason I ask is that one at least wasn’t cremated so may give a better clue to the cause
The filter at the front doesn’t look that bad, it looks like the clothes inside have been ignited, possibly from the fluff at the back of the drum.
The ones that seem to go up big time are the condenser dryers, plastic/rubber hoses down the back, large plastic water tank assembly at the top and a complete, moulded plastic base unlike the metal base of the vented units.
Whirlpool only started doing the mods in October and yet I have recently repaired machines that where 12/13 months old in October and already have this modification from new, but it has taken them another 12 months to start the mod roll out.

How awful, very sad news indeed. 🙁

The fact that this mod is being done suggests that Whirlpool are well aware of the cause of the fire. Unless you catch one at the instant it starts to burn it would be nigh on impossible to point the finger at blocked filters or poor maintenance.

ITV themselves already have quite a few charred remains.

Apparently the head of Hotpoint UK is going to be ‘on the sofa’ on Wednesday mornings ITVs’ This Morning. show.
Another burnt out dryer on the show this morning.iadom
ModeratorRe: Ariston Dishwasher not filling
You appear to be posting from Poland or possibly Holland???
That model number is not compatible with the UK technical information either.
It is possible your machine has an internal leak, remove the electrical power plug and gently tilt the machine to one side, don’t lie it flat.
If water runs out from underneath then it has tripped the safety float mechanism.
You need to find the cause of the leak and fix it.

At least 4 possibly 5 of the dryers THIS guy has for sale are the ones that should have been modified.
1. What are the chances of any of these dryers having the mod done?
2. What is the legal position of someone selling these, is pleading ignorance a sound defence should the worst happen?

No need to remove the drum for either repair.

What did you remove to change the pulleys?
TBH I have never had to change a drum front seal on one of these but would probably do it the same way as changing belt or pulleys. Upside down, remove kick strip and gently ease the cabinet front forward.
Failing that removal of the front panel, not the back is the way to go.Felt seal is a C00165993
Bearing pads are C00165940iadom

According to the forecasts we should have expected ‘almost four inches of snow’. I think it is a bit more than that.

ModeratorRe: Hot point Aquarius wml520 out of balance?
No such switch, you must have moved it rather robustly. If you are lucky it may just have dislodged some internal wiring, worst case is that something could have shorted out and blown the main pcb. 🙁
